Now people can stop freaking out about the Jays doing nothing and start freaking out over losing Hutch!

Drew Hutchison is only piece #BlueJays sending to #Pirates. Mike Bolsinger becomes the triple-A depth Hutchison provided

Holy ****! That's a hell of a deal

Gave up Hutch who is cheap but took on Liriano who I think could turn it around (maybe even as a reliever) and likely took on his salary to get another good prospect.

I'm liking it.

Worse comes to worse, they have three guys to replace Sanchez in the rotation: Liriano, Feldman and Biagini.

Liriano could be be a solid leftie reliever. This could be a great deal.

This could be an ugly deal...

He's signed for one more season at 13ish million. Around the same you'd sign Dickey for next season. Could Hutch be good down the road, sure. But for right now this is far from ugly. Nice little deal. Especially when we're getting a prospect or two aswell.

I'll miss hutch though. I wanted to see him prosper here.

Hockey style cap dump. I'm ok with it. But I hope people don't expect Liriano to come close to filling the whole left by arguable the best pitcher in the AL.

OMG. Cap dump?

How on Earth is Hutch for Liriano a cap dump?:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I will be laughing about this all night.

Baseball doesn't even have a cap...

I'm liking it from what I am reading.

Ramirez is a great hitter, has some speed, and good fielding.

Projected To Be An Everyday Outfielder.

People complaining about Jays taking on salary and moving future pieces for pieces that could help us win now. I've seen it all I swear!

It's hard to please this city

I think Shapiro is doing an excellent job and he's really showing he wants a winner. We've made some solid moves today. You have to lose something to gain something.

I feel like people are expecting a steal of a deal, level c prospect for a straight up ace...

Gotta love Toronto, right?

Well in the Jays' case, it's just the casual fans who throw hatred around for whoever is the owner/GM not making moves or making too many moves.

Good majority like this deal, just waiting for the dust to settle and have the casuals come in.

Good luck to Hutch. Probably the best org to go to for him to figure things out. Could see him going full metal Arrieta.

Liriano is a good pick up. With Martin framing, he's a good #3. Better option than most of the rumoured available starters, Imo. Good #4 for the Jays playoff rotation.

I'd assume he means that's a "cap dump" from Pittsburgh's side. High paid underperforming player and a prospect for a player

and cap dump because that's what every hockey fan calls it even though in baseball terms it's a salary dump

Literally 10 minutes ago people were spouting off the complete opposite. Rogers shows they aren't cheaping out and people complain yet.

Salary dumps are a pretty standard part of baseball.

Everybody has/will done/will do it. It's just part of the sport.

Hard Ramirez is going to be an absolute stud. One of my favorite prospects in baseball. 21 yr old fielder with huge potential. I wonder who the 2nd prospect is as well! Shapiro and Atkins impressed me this deadline.

Let it be known that anyone complaining about the deal, ie losing Hutch, would've likely complained had the org stood pat and said "Hutch is replacing Sanchez."

Also the same people who are complaining about Sanchez being shut down as a starter...who would likely also be the ones who would be first to cry if he got hurt.

Would have loved to have seen Hutch rebound in Toronto but I don't have a problem if that's the best piece the Jays give up in order to make them a better contending team this season. Plus they get prospects back in the system as well.
