He wanted Morrissey and Trouba on the ice against the Johansen line. It had nothing to do with three lines.

At home is where you control the matchup.

He is fully capable of deploying them against other lines as well as the Johansen line. The Preds where able to get their d matchups and still play their top 4 huge minutes. I thought he messed up with their usage as not only where they our best pairing in our own end but they also generated the best chances from the blue line tonight as well and the team needed goals.

Anyhow this team is young with a bunch of players in their first or second post season birth. It was never going to be a cake walk and you need to accept your lumps. I'm fairly impressed with the play of our youngsters for the most part. Really only Connor is struggling mightily imo, the rest of the kids have been good to terrific.

Jets were behind by 2-0 for much of the game. Shutting down the opponents' top line has to be balanced with needed to move the puck and generate some offense to get back into the game.

The key is balance, and the scales weren't balanced with TOI at any point this series.

Roslovic, Copp, and Hendricks haven't played more than 10 minutes in half the games in this series. Game 1 which was 4-1 Jets, and then in game 2 which went to 2OT.

In my opinion they haven't been chasing so much that there's any reason to run the top lines as heavy as Maurice has.

I also disagree with the lineup decision tonight. I feel like the fresher legs of Roslovic outweigh any experience that Hendricks brings, and Armia being back replaces the PK time of Hendricks. The fresh legs are especially important when the top lines are so tired that the only chance of gaining the zone is carrying it in. I hope Maurice isn't punishing Roslovic for the penalty, because there's other guys taking penalties just as weak.

There has been plenty of blame thrown at the stars. You're blind if you don't see that. We fixate on Matt Hendricks because he is so fundamentally irrelevant to today's NHL game, and serves no purpose other than being a glorified warm body. The Jets have Marko Dano and Jack Roslovic - 2 players who are objectively better than Matt Hendricks - just chilling in the Press Box, just so Maurice can play him for six and a half minutes.

Heck, the Jets have Shawn Matthias, say what you will about him but he is probably still an okay 4th liner that you don't have to clench whenever he is on the ice. Whose cornflakes did he piss in to get banished from the Jets? Even if Maurice hates Dano or Roslovic for some reason, atleast play Matthias, who is a veteran who can kill penalties. There are so many options given by the GM to the coach that the coach refuses to use.

Maybe playing Hendricks and winning was just a sly move by Maurice; instilling the concept on Lavo that he needed to play Hartnell to match the "Hendricks effect". And then Bam, Maurice pulls out Perreault and we win the series. :sarcasm: Just grabbing at straws here.:laugh::laugh:

I 100% get this feeling. We've concentrated down to this little group of complainers when there is so much fun happening around this team. It is 2-2 in the division finals for a team that had never won a playoff game before. And personally I'm looking forward to our bounce back game Saturday. Should be a ton of fun.
I love the playoff run, and will be happy with the season regardless.

Still, I really wanted the Jets to win the game today and go up 3-1.

I think it's okay to be disappointed with the performance, particularly if one thinks that they could have used their roster better tonight.

Also, some of the concern is for the trend of over-playing the top 9, with a 4th line that the coaches don't trust. I think that needs to be changed, and a discussion forum seems like a good place to discuss those issues.

Armia hasn't played since he was injured in game 5 last series. He was thrust into the lineup tonight.

True enough, that’s still a week less away than Perreault. And we don’t know the nature of their injuries, one may have prevented them from training more significantly.

Anyway hated seeing Hendricks in lineup, bring in anyone but him for next game.

Frustrating loss tonite...no doubt

That said, if you said a week ago it would be 2-2 after 4 no one would be surprised. In Nashville we won and pushed them into double overtime. I am not panicking at all. Not even close.

It's best of three, will still have a solid chance to win this series.

Nashville got desperate and employed an emasculating four player stack on their blue line. I think this bodes well for us (in this series and over the next decade) as that was the strategy of a desperate team trying to eke out a win.

p.s. please add speed to the lineup, PauMau

That's the thing that pisses me off the most. Frenchy said he was 100% healthy. He had the medical clearance. Paul Maurice said everyone not in a yellow jersey was an option tonight. That meant Frenchie could go in. He didn't go in. It's a stupid ****ing decision on his part. **** you, Paul Maurice.

NHL players, especially ones that haven't been part of a serious playoff run in a real long time, will push hard to get back in the game. Just because Perreault said he was 100% healthy, does not mean he was 100% healthy. Almost nobody is 100% healthy this time of year. Maurice knows how great Perreault is. If he doesn't play him, there's a reason. Despite all the irrational claims to the contrary that occur after nearly every loss on HFJets, Maurice is not an idiot.

If you are actually trying to claim that Maurice looked at a 100% healthy Perreault, vs. Hendricks, and he chose Hendricks, your brain is addled from playoff loss anger. It's tiring to read this same crap after every loss.

This tweet was after period 2. Head-scratching D usage...

Its mind boggling. If there was a game to give each 25 minutes it was tonight as both where flying out there and making things happen all night.

The other pairings had rough nights. Buff had a bit too much risk in his game again and it caused some odd man breaks. Toby had a real solid night imo.

The bottom pairing was a train wreck, neither could move the puck at all

I'm entitled to my opinion without being attacked personally.

People refuse to blame their heros. It's just so easy to blame Hendricks.
No. Nobody here has blamed Hendricks himself.

In a close game all it takes is a shift or two of dominant puck possession to turn momentum in your favour. Now I ask you, is that more likely to happen with Hendricks in over Roslo? Have people forgotten how dominant Lowry Copp Tanev/Armia can be? tonight's lineup took that option off the table. So, sure, the Jets big nuts didn't deliver, but Hendricks in the lineup made for a weaker Plan B.

I didn't realize that they left it up to Wiebe to make official announcements on players health, rather than someone actually employed by the team.

When has a team ever announced that a player is healthy with any kind of formality? In the regular season you'll see IR announcements that indicate they're healthy, but in the playoffs why tip your hand when there's no roster limits?

My main point is that no one knows the health situation of players and everyone acts like everyone is 100% and Maurice has a full healthy arsenal to choose from. There is so much hidden from us and the media at this time of year and you add in MP's tendency to speak out of turn at the real truth is more likely he is not yet ready as much as he wants to be.

Had a good first period but came away from it down 1, Nashville choked the life out of it from there but I was disappointed the Jets couldn't seem to adjust. The Preds did a very good job funneling the Jets, maintaining their gaps, supporting the puck and had great back pressure. Jets simply didn't respond.

Simply amazed how much of 57-7 I saw through 2, they were a shit show, no sugar coating it, it's a problem.

If the Jets sell out for the Mark Stuart special at the blueline, like they did in the first tonight, in Nashville, they are in for a world of hurt. They got caught hunting for hits tonight and were lucky not to be torched.

Puck support was very poor tonight, they missed timed countless pinches and seemed hesitant. Too many easy zone clears for the Preds. Connor, Ehlers, Laine all very weak along the wall, losing too many pucks. Connor was particularly bad. Stastny fought the puck uncharacteristically tonight. Other than the Lowry line, their close support was non existent after the 1st, their spacing was terrible and they couldn't hold pucks in when they needed to.

Nobody really asserted themselves this game, it was disappointing. They didn't play that poorly, they just lacked execution, were too passive against the way Nashville was playing and got zero bounces along the way.

They can win one on the road. Sure hope Perreault is back. Copp and Armia are just wasted with Hendricks. They really need Perreault's tenacity and playmaking ability. Nashville did nothing that overly concerns me, they weren't overly threatening.

The penalty kill was simply awful again amd the PP has all but vanished. This series could easily be decided by special teams and so far that is favouring Nashville.

Well, I'm not happy with the result, but when you put 1 overall vs 2 overall and so little separates them, you're going to get back and forth results like this. Coin flip going forward... both teams would have better than 50/50 odds against any other of the 6 teams left right now, but against each other, it'll be a saw off.
