I keep hearing this. ^^^ Stepan was our leading scorer at the time over Rick Nash and Brad Richards. Hardly a good comparison.

If we're solely looking at points DeAngelo was our defensive leading scorer despite playing the 6th most games.

He's about to not play any games and take a significant step back with his career if he keeps this stupid crap up.

He's missed one practice. He's nowhere close to "not playing any games." Do you know how many players have held out for a whole season in the last ten years? I'm pretty sure the number is zero and the longest was Nylander. were the last ones Yashin/Peca 20 years ago?

Time will run out quickly. September. October. November. December.

What does he have to gain by sitting out when there isn't more money being offered?

if we were talking about projected contracts and fair value 2+ months ago not a single person would have said that ADA deserves $925k. and most people probably would have had him over $3 mil per on a multi-year deal....but now because the rangers mismanaged their cap and didn't leave enough space, he's supposed to just be happy with 925k?

That or he can sit and earn nothing.

We didn't mismanage anything.

I don't know about 3 mil or a multi year, but yeah, more than 925k is safe to say. Maybe they get it done for 1.1 mil.

He needs to show he can continue where he left off.

He was our best defenseman last year and has some real talent. I totally understand why he is pissed over the supposed 925K offer. He is worth more than that and I have no problem with him holding out. I do hope they can come to an agreement somewhere in the 1.1-1.2 mil range.

As we already saw Lemieux didn’t sign for months and then got an additional 50k from what everyone here said he should just accept. Is that a large amount in the grand scheme of things? No. But clearly he gained something from not just instantly signing the deal in July

Is 200K really worth sitting out and missing training camp? Really...?

With the camps said to be far apart, I just don't think that they're mulling a bridge deal.

Nobody knows if the team offered him 50k more. That could have been the original offer and he signed it after seeing the team wasn't going to budge.

Yes we do. Brooks said they were offering their QO salaries.

It’s also not x more. It’s actually least double the difference since a larger salary this year raises their QO for next year

Brooks also said that Stepan was not being traded, so pardon me for not believing everything he tweets.

And who's to say that ADA hasn't also been offered 50k more?

Being "far apart" suggests that 50k wouldn't bridge the difference anyway.

I mean there an extremely large difference between Brooks reporting on a trade and a contract and if that’s too complex to understand I don’t know what to say.

“Stepan is not being a traded” I’m sure is something that was true at the time however things can obviously change quickly in the trade market. If the Rangers were offered the #1 overall pick for Stepan, as ridiculous that would be, or course he would have been dealt instantly despite what they had planned.

“Lemieux and DeAngelo were being offered 874k” to start is a simple statement of fact and will always be true.

Who are we to judge? 200k means a 20% increase in pay for the kid which is significant and not a big deal for the team. Would you be happy with a 20% increase in pay? I know I would.

ADA's employer held him out 20% of the games last season. If the kid wants a raise he needs to prove he can replicate his production for a full season without headaches. He'll see a hell more than a 20% raise if can do that.

Sitting out now for a small increase is a shortsighted move. Sounds like myself when I was 23 years old.

I'm usually on the side of the team when it comes to players seeking more money and holding out. Not this time.
