Looking at it another way, I think Quinn is giving ADA a ton of respect by not really publicizing the reason despite a hard push by everyone to know it. Keep it private and continue to work on it. I'm projecting, but it seems Quinn is really trying to mentor this kid.

let the speculation begin. who knows what he did but i found this interesting

“He gave me a small reason to take him out,” Quinn said before the Rangers dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the Oilers.

small reason ? ok, like how small ? like a comment, a remark, bad intentions ? do tell.

doesnt need much im thinking. its garbage time right now. playing out the season.

quinns gonna quinn.

kid is one of the top players on the team. certainly, of the entire dumpster fire defense, hes a standout.

guys play who legit suck. guys who can play and dont suck, sit to be taught lessons. i gets it. quinns the boss.

again, methods matter. can you scratch the attitude out of deangelo like you can scratch the poor effort or results out of guys like 89, 22, 72 and the like ? can benching make you a different person with better intentions ?

time will tell

not saying quinn isnt within his rights and responsibility to scratch ADA. he is. unless we know what he did, its hard to agree or disagree.

It doesn't seem like it was that hard for you to disagree

Doesn't sound like the materiality is important when it comes to things that are, as Quinn puts it, non-negotiable.

Quinn does not need to "do tell". He prefers to keep things in the locker room. Which is commendable.

This is the start and end of it for me. People complain about how he's treated day to day by Quinn but ignore the fact that he's making tremendous progress under his coaching.
The Rangers are actually in a good position for this type of stuff too. They’re trying to win every night but they also don’t have to worry about consequences like losing home ice or a playoff spot, etc.

There’s no negative consequences to this other than a couple somewhat-less entertaining games. Doesn’t everyone want to lose anyway?

Wow I cant believe Tony DeangeNO got scratched last night !

You people want to lock this guy up for eight years ?

Well I'm sure it's a coaches conspiracy or "we are in tank mode" was the reason that this rising superstar got put in the Quinn bin against Edmonton. People who proposed an eight year deal you are utterly laughable.

I feel like the one time he kind of gave a little more, there was some push-back for saying as much as he did as well.

Of course he could go full blown pro wrestling style and really drop some jaws.

Oh you did it again...calm yourself you heathen

Hey man, this board is my refuge from the exhausting day-to-day grind of kicking puppies and robbing from the poor and infirm.

It's not all business travel, family time and more hockey games than any sane person would ever want to sit through. It's the important stuff as well.

Missing a team meeting would be a gigantic thing.

If i had to guess, he probably ripped one in the same elevator as Quinn.

Not really. It depends on the circumstances. If he missed it because he just skipped it, then yea, sure....but if he missed it or was late because of some semi-acceptable excuse, it's not that big of a deal, but still might call for discipline.

This is really getting blown out of proportion.

I was as hard on Quinn as anyone with how he treated ADA earlier this year, but I was wrong. He clearly knows what he's doing and I trust him to make the right calls.

You really can't argue with the results and growth ADA (and some others) have shown under Quinn this year. It might seem to us tough love, but it's working.

At the end of the day, this is just like any other job.

You show up late, you're reprimanded
You fail your deadlines, you're reprimanded
You don't carry out your assignments, you're reprimanded

What's also like any other job, is that the manager (head coach) just likes certain employees more than others and will never be 100% objective when judging them.

I like it. These are young kids. Many of them really need to learn discipline and focus. It's natural. A teacher type makes sense. And it's not like Quinn only has one approach. He obviously treats Staal differently. Because I assume Staal behaves More professionally. As does Henrik. But when the men don't behave like pros, they get benched. Fine.
There is also that "potential young veteran type" meaning that Tony is 23. He is NOT a veteran and he is NOT 19. Tony (maybe without him even knowing) has to lead by example for the 19 yr old Chytils, Howdens and others that might be "looking up to him". If Tony screws up and he gets away with it.....might not bode well for the others moving forward. I like Quinn running a very tight ship. Its all about "deserving" to play, not a God given right. There also "should be" that internal competition for playing time. Its when players get "comfortable" is when things really can go awry. Quinn won't allow this team to get away with any of that garbage. They don't have that leeway, they're not good enough to take nights off or break the rules.

You aren't projecting anything. Anyone with any kind of knowledge about psychology can see this. He is also somewhat "parenting" the kid......and with the teaching background that Quinn has......well, seems pretty obvious to me that he IS mentoring him. He KNOWS Tony is huge for this teams success, somewhere down the road.

If you want to compare "people"......look at Howden and Lias how they carry themselves. Bright kids with seemingly NO childhood issues. Tony had a rep coming in, and it's being worked on. Namestnikov is around the same age, again.....no issues.

Yeah, you mentioned "parenting." It did occur to me that Quinn is trying to be a father figure somewhat.
