i wouldnt bridge him, but im also part of the group here that thinks he still has more growth to his game....id love to get him for 5 years right now maybe 6....hes worth the gamble and truthfully great teams are those that can evaluate their own talent and lock them up before they deserve 8 million a year

hes proven enough to me. kids a playa

5 yr deal at 4 per. wrap him for 5 yrs. his will look like a steal and it will be. we need some value contracts. his leverage is low and this is a win/win for both sides.

gives him a 5 yr deal to stay and play at home and makes him a wealthy young man while allowing some cap flexibility. imagine getting a top 4 man under control for 5 yrs at 20 mil. 4 aav.

He's been great recently but he hasn't even had one single season where he wasn't scratched repeatedly for attitude/maturity problems and people want to give him 5 or 8 years?

No thanks.

Bridge him. If he's a top pairing d-man long term, pay him like one. That's not a bad problem to have. He absolutely hasn't proven that yet as good as he's been.

Yup. Wanting to bridge him has absolutely nothing to do with his level of play, at least for me.

This is fair.

Even if you personally don't care about his issues, you can't pay him big bucks if the coach won't play him.

Then give him a 1 year bridge contract if you guys are so afraid of the money ruining him...

This is exactly the reason why we don't have these productive guys on ELCs

DeAngelo is a top 3 player on this roster right now. Scratching him for a “little thing” is inexpicable.

We need to understand that off-ice behavior is as important as on-ice behavior and is the reason for DeAngelo being scratched. There's a reason why Brendan Smith is still in the line-up. Or Howden. It's because Quinn is the type of coach that preaches the "right mentality" mantra. He thinks like a college coach/college professor.

Not saying this is a good or bad thing. Just an observation

I like it. These are young kids. Many of them really need to learn discipline and focus. It's natural. A teacher type makes sense. And it's not like Quinn only has one approach. He obviously treats Staal differently. Because I assume Staal behaves More professionally. As does Henrik. But when the men don't behave like pros, they get benched. Fine.

LOL....best to hold off on the 8 year deals . Tony as good as he can be...likely might always be an enigma . He could be a guy that gets moved around a lot before his career is done . I love the kid....but this is a team game and the team has rules on and off the ice that have to be followed and if you don't follow them then there will be consequences that will follow . I sure hope he can get this stuff figured out before we commit on him for any term .

Hey....any chance he could be subject to an offer sheet ? I'm sure other GM's have watched his progress and might be willing to take that chance if the penalty for an OS is minor versus the reward ? Let's face it...he has the skills and can run a PP or at the very minimum be an offensive weapon for a club desperate for that need .

Non-zero chance, but it's low, IMO.

DQ said it was a "small reason" to scratch him. This doesn't scream huge discipline problems to me. Maybe he was 5 minutes late for a team meeting. Who knows?

He's teaching the kid to be a pro. As long as it's only a game or two, I'm fine with it. This is a lost season, and the kid might benefit in the long run.

let the speculation begin. who knows what he did but i found this interesting

“He gave me a small reason to take him out,” Quinn said before the Rangers dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the Oilers.

small reason ? ok, like how small ? like a comment, a remark, bad intentions ? do tell.

doesnt need much im thinking. its garbage time right now. playing out the season.

quinns gonna quinn.

kid is one of the top players on the team. certainly, of the entire dumpster fire defense, hes a standout.

guys play who legit suck. guys who can play and dont suck, sit to be taught lessons. i gets it. quinns the boss.

again, methods matter. can you scratch the attitude out of deangelo like you can scratch the poor effort or results out of guys like 89, 22, 72 and the like ? can benching make you a different person with better intentions ?

time will tell

not saying quinn isnt within his rights and responsibility to scratch ADA. he is. unless we know what he did, its hard to agree or disagree.
