ADA was the "fill in" because Howden is hurt and Fast had a maintenance day so they were short a forward and ADA slotted in there for a practice because he can skate.
But yes, lets breathlessly give the same complaint about the coach for the 800th time misusing a specific player for the 450th time.
But Pionk can also skate. Besides, if Quinn sees that Staal-ADA have chemistry, and intends to play them together, why split that up, even during practice? Isn’t the point of practice to get ready for the games? Why place Pionk next to Staal if ADA is going to play with him? This shows me that the coach wants Staal-Pionk back together, and I’m not a fan of that.ADA was the "fill in" because Howden is hurt and Fast had a maintenance day so they were short a forward and ADA slotted in there for a practice because he can skate.

Sorry, I thought it had something to do with last night, given how half of your post was about that. You know, Pionk coming back, taking ADA's spot and us losing as a result. Sorry though, just poor reading comprehension on my part.Has nothing to do with last night whatsoever. Pionk has taken the spot next to staal in practice today and tony is the fill in. Exactly what about not playing your best players makes sense? Especially when he’s been our best dman for weeks and we continue to win when he plays

The rest of the stuff about Quinn and his decision-making process, I've covered elsewhere.
I'll show myself out.
Because it's practice and Pionk was out with an injury and needs reps. Not everything is an anti-DeAngelo conspiracy. But Pionk can also skate. ADA is probably not playing with Staal next game but I do think he's in the lineup.Uhh no that’s not why he was the fill in if he were playing he’d be slotted next to staal in practice. Is this like what you actually think?
Doesn’t work that way
I’m holding onto the hope that because Quinn sees something in DeAngelo and expects more out of him, that he can play better if he’s harder on him.Because it's practice and Pionk was out with an injury and needs reps. Not everything is an anti-DeAngelo conspiracy.
He's definitely harder on him than other guys, but those other guys 1) are vets he trusts more for the same reasons every coach ever does and at some point you just gotta bow to a hundred years of that and 2) the org probably thinks ADA will have plenty of time to play after they trade McQuaid which bodes well if you spend a half a second not anger bearing about it
Dude's no dummy, has scratched a variety of people and been fairly hard on guys he *should* be chummy with like Shattenkirk but that gets ignored.I’m holding onto the hope that because Quinn sees something in DeAngelo and expects more out of him, that he can play better if he’s harder on him.
I guess, but all I want are answers. Why does ADA usually seem like the odd man out? What is he doing at practice? What is the issue?Dude's no dummy, has scratched a variety of people and been fairly hard on guys he *should* be chummy with like Shattenkirk but that gets ignored.
He's also visibly and clearly nice guy pat-on-the-back with someone like Vesey and previously Spooner who seems to needs the baby treatment. So it's not like he's once size fits all everyone go be a grinder meathead.
Did you read the comment I responded to?So because Tampa traded them it means those guys suck and arent worth trying to develop?
I think you're asking for too much in that regard. I can think of no better way to alienate a locker room than to out what goes on in it or put your players on blast with specific issues.I guess, but all I want are answers. How is “he needs to play better” a vague statement? Also, we can at least see on the ice that Buch isn’t putting in as much effort as he could be. We see at least some of his problems. With DeAngelo, I don’t know what it is. He’s playing pretty well, he’s being physical, and he’s putting in effort.I think you're asking for too much in that regard. I can think of no better way to alienate a locker room than to out what goes on in it or put your players on blast with specific issues.
There's a reason he told Buchnevich to "play better", and not just because it's pithy, it's because it's vague.
Seems like there will be 12 forwards in the lineup tomorrow, so I doubt this. Hopefully the can trade McQuaid soon, this is ridiculous.ADA as the seventh dman/forward next game. Smith and Shattenkirk to pair up for a natural righty-lefty pair, with ADA playing some right wing and rotating as the RD among the three D pairs.
Is what I'm thinking
If it's not McQuaid, it'll be the next asshole.Seems like there will be 12 forwards in the lineup tomorrow, so I doubt this. Hopefully the can trade McQuaid soon, this is ridiculous.
What the Rangers actually need is more talent, so that "try hard" is no longer a variable, no longer something that is bandied about regarding performance on players who might not meet the required bar height (see 'talent'). I know what you are saying, but really this kind of talk will go on forever until the Rangers have two stud defensemen, which is minimum for a Cup worthy team.Rangers continually will go with the try hard guy over the skill guy. This is so typical and it’s gotten us no where.
I'm glad this came out, even though it's still somewhat vague. A couple weeks ago I poked around on this as I said I would and all I really heard was that the kid was a hot head who showed maturity issues across the board and they're trying to break him of them.
