No, but a smart franchise who is supposedly rebuilding could use that cap space to take a bad contract for real value, or help use it to facilitate trades, I can't be the only one thinking this is horrible asset management, yes tda is piece of shit, but there are now missed opportunities due to bad asset management
The flip side is that you would not have that money to do so this year. Yes, having an extra $1.7 million next year would be nice, but having an extra 2-3 this year is probably better.

Capfriendly, Meltzer, and COC, all deleted tweets saying it was mutual.

Hockey media is such dogshit
I can see why Capfriendly wouldn’t know, he’s not a reporter. When unconditional waivers are used, it’s most often for mutual termination. I guess the flyers weren’t clear on that on the off-chance he is claimed.

The only reason to do the trade was if they liked the prospect.

So what do you all think everyday life as a Flyer employee is like?

My headcanon is that a clip of Tortorella saying the word "culture" with that weird ASMR mouth is played throughout the building on a constant loop. And Hilferty comes out of the walls like the T-1000 to slap blue IBX patches onto the nearest surface, living or not.

Remember the Torts story about him seeing the blouses for the first time?

That’s a great one.

Yeah, and NEXT YEAR, he wouldn't be on the books at all, which is my point lmao, now he will be for another 2+ million.....it's just horrible asset management, especially with 5 million off the books we could have taken a bad contract from a contender for a 1st or a prospect
1.65 cap hit is better than 4 million. This was the correct decision.

Good thing Fletcher's gone. Otherwise he'd probably be using this new found cap space to offer a top 10 protected first to Arizona for Galchenyuk.
