JP being sat makes sense because of Rod. You know he doesn’t want to sit any of the guys he’s loyal to for a guy who isn’t expected to be a scorer or being anything new while it not being a sure thing he’s better defensively than whoever is coming out. He’s punting the decision for another game.

Speaking of people/teams playing at a ridiculous pace, if McDavid 'only' scores at a point per game pace the rest of the season, he'll finish with 141 points, making him the first guy to hit 140+ since Mario in the 90's.
He’s doing something special this year. I’ve always thought he’s amazing but I’ve seen some things this year that could put him amongst the greatest if he keeps going. He’s got a new comfort level and he’s trying new things. Being a shooter has changed things up a bit. I think young 97 had a ceiling for me, I’m not so sure now.

True. He's been with the team a total of 2 days and has had 1 practice. If the team was losing or someone was banged up, then yeah, it might make sense, but right now, let him come up to speed before forcing an issue.

Ghost was a bit different. We were coming off two losses, the PP needed a spark and the 1st game was against his old team, so there were multiple factors that contributed to him playing right away.

So we've moved Pool Party to #8 D ahead of Coghlan who is now the #9? At least that is what the tweet implies...
No, just means the healthy scratches skate together.

I really wanted to see PP tonight. What a letdown.
It was an equipment issue. They ordered him an adult-sized helmet instead of youth-sized.

Puljujärvi not playing is lame, like they could not try that already. Why waste time with something you are going to do anyways. Put him to play with Aho.
Why? Because he’s simply not that good. He’s “producing” at a level of our 4th line vets, and he’s not a vet. He’s certainly not going to get to play on the 1st line right away. We traded basically a warm body for him so it’s not like we absolutely need to get value out of him right away

All thats true but he is a big man that should be able to help in the more physical playoffs, and you want him to be in the flow before the playoffs start. Do you really think there would be a drop off sitting Stastny or Steppan for him? I mean its low risk high reward move and its against a bottom team

If his name were Bobby Smith and he wasn’t a lottery pick, this would be less of a discussion. But I get it, he’s Finnish and was drafted high.

And he's a big man that in theory should be a big plus for the team in the playoffs and again him being in the flow for the playoffs is a pretty big deal. Also I'm not talking about putting on the first line we are talking about him playing in place of Stepan.

Edit to add while I like Stepan JP is outscoring him, albeit by 4 assists but still, the point is you are not losing anything sitting Steps for Poolparty

It's March 9th, the playoffs are over a month away.

There's zero pressure to make a lineup change right now. I agree with the take above that he will get his chance soon enough.
