I knew after seeing Bruno at that exit PC after last season that Tomasino was done. There would be no way he'd be able to read minds and do what he was supposed to do. Mostly because it sounded like a CYA smoke screen. Tomasino wasn't looked at highly and the coach was going to get rid of him one way or another.

So it's not surprising he's gone. Not at all.

But I still think he got an extremely raw deal here. As did we as fans. "We tried him everywhere" is just so obviously a joke.

He, like all the young guys, is expected to take the ice and in the course of 3 shifts at most take over a game like MacKinnon apparently. Who knows really. But whatever that mythical hero bar is that has been set, it's clear none of our prospects comes close to reaching it.

Points brought up that have been true a long time. First this organization has never been good developing forwards or for that matter drafting them. 1st round picks have never fared well here long term, this is even more confusing that fans put so much value on 1st round picks.

Not sure what Trotz plan is but what he put on paper in this off season made sense until it didnt. As one looks at the roster long term the Askarov situation looks to be the one that will have the worst impact. Post Soros there is no plan.
Trotz tried the old Poile approach bandaid the roster but it fell off and the scab ripped off with it. The team has been due a rebuild for a few years now and everything points now to that's the only choice left. Never like Bruno as a player and as a coach yeah he is probably worse than Hynes and that is saying a lot. Moving the remains of this bleeding and choking horse will be the savior or death knell for Trotz. He does not need picks he needs players with potential that will mature in the next couple years up and down the roster.

I am biased when it comes to Stammer I would like to see Trotz call JBB in Tampa and do a deal like Stammer at 50% for Perbix a young defender that is developing well. Stammer could come home and start a defense rebuild with a young developed blue liner that does not gaff like Fabbro did. No idea what to do with ROR but his falloff has been glaring. March still has value but moving him will be a harder sell he has to have linemates.

1/4 way in the team is in a big hole nothing that a couple long winning streaks could not turn around but who thinks that is possible.

Arguing or pointing out young guys like Tomasino being moved is a waste of time , if he were more valuable he would have brought more. Now Tolvanen is another thing that was just a stupid loss. If you think about it it seems the focus is looking for top 6 guys for the future and the determination Tomasino was not it. Folks still butthurt about Fiala need to ask why he did not stick in Minnesota? He's always been a problem.

It will be interesting to have Trotz show his hand which way he is going to rebuild or owners firing him that could crest an even bigger problem. This is not going to be a two year thing now , this could well be 5 to 10 years.

I won't lie, using our last retention slot so that Stamkos can run back home after 20 games, after we just traded a kid that could have been getting minutes in his stead...I thought my frustration with the org was already at capacity.

One thing to salve some of that possible sting: it looks like Trotz sees Bruno as a long term partner (like he was with Poile) and that they will have many, many seasons, starting with how to use the crayon sharpener in the back of the box, to figure it out and learn how to assemble a competitive hockey club.

THIS is what I fear rn. That we are trading away all young forwards that cannot instantly thrive in last line with marginal players. That means painful 'find out' phase if true.

There's negativity when the team is garbage and the future is being tossed out the window, and there's negativity when the team is contending for a Cup and winning the President's trophy.

There's also being negative because you're a fan of the team and you want them to be better, vs negativity where you declare you are jumping ship to be a fan of a different team and only show up here to throw gas on the fire when things aren't going well.

Everybody knows he's coming in as the majority owner, so does he, In fact, he is already a part-owner, no? He is making 4 installment payments, which END with him as majority stakeholder in 2025. But he has already made some of the payments towards becoming a part-owner, no? So he's in the building already. I would expect any type of "hands on" ownership he's ever going to do... he's already basically doing. Being 30% or 40% or 60% owner shouldn't change that.

It's definitely impossible for any of us to know what's going on there, since our beloved media is not reporting on any of it or asking any questions whatsoever.

Haslam as a Governor and billionaire, I don't think he can be "outright dumb"... he is hard right politically, whether based on the expediency of his constituency or his own innate beliefs, who knows. But he's probably smarter than most "hockey people". Does that translate into him wanting to take a more hands-on approach or not? I don't know how we can even guess, and extrapolating just based on what his brother did doesn't seem very reliable to me. But if he's already in the room and nothing is being said about him yet... my guess so far (totally blind) is that he is probably not going to be a very visible hands-on kind of owner?

Whether his hands on the product would be beneficial or not, who knows, that's a totally separate question, and probably only comes up if/when it happens, or in conjunction with some business-related issues for the team (e.g. empty seats). So far, he seems to be totally "hands off". As far as we can tell. Granted we're totally in the dark.

As big a fan as I have been of Tomasino I will admit i was concerned when he was sent back to Milwaukee and could only put up decent, not dominant numbers.

Not really. Pittsburgh is basically in the same situation we are coaching wise, meaning he likely gets little time before he gets benched for not running over people or being gritty.

Fabbro was going into a good situation for him, Tomasino is not.

Yeah, he will probably wash out in Pittsburgh and then go on waivers. I hope somebody in a situation like Columbus was with Fabbro picks him up when that happens. But there probably aren't too many of those situations out there. We got a 4th round in 2027, which is the barest minimum Trotz could get before waiving him. For his sake, he would have been better off on waivers.
