Confirmed with Link: Tomas Hertl 17% retained, 2025 3rd, 2027 3rd to Vegas for C David Edstrom, 2025 1st

Can someone turn the live refresh off this thread? It’s quite literally giving my phone AIDS trying to read anything.

People need to understand that between Hertl's decline in production, unlikely to rebound on such a bad team, combined with his age and annually compounded injury history, this was probably our last chance to move him and get anything of value even with retention.

As an outsider, I can see how it would hurt to have Hertl traded to Vegas.

But aside from that, I think this could be a great trade. That Hertl contract could have become untradeable. Grier got you a 1st and a solid prospect. Plus it helps you bottom out and get really good prospects. You'll get a beauty this year (one of Cellebrini, Demidov, Lindstrom, Parekh, etc...)
We didnt really need help bottoming out. Even after this the hawks are still worse and no one else is close to as bad as us two

There will *literally* be 4-5k people most nights at the tank at most for the next 3+ years. I don't think most understand how serious this will get.
It's already bad. It's f***ing embarrassing watching the games and see 90% of the arena seats lighting up because they're empty. Moving both Duclair and Hertl on an already pathetic team is gonna make the rest of this season far more unbearable than it's already been.

I’m really hoping this looks like the Timo trade in a year from now. I don’t think it will though.

There’s only a very late first and a middling prospect. Chances of them combined even playing more than 100 games is pretty low.

He was already a tough trade and one more injury was going to make a trade even worse.

They basically got slightly more value than they did for Goodrow.

They basically got Ozzy Weisblatt while retaining for 6 more years.

We didn't get anything of substantial value, we got the 30thish overall pick and a projected bottom 6 center

At that rate just keep the bad contract for the veteran leader
