haha you're kidding right? You call that kicking the goalie? What happens almost every game when there are people fighting for the puck in the crease. and yet deserves someone being choked on the ice face down and punched in back of the head.
Here is the thing, there is video showing the pitch fork, kicking at the goalie, the punch not hitting him in the back of the head nor being choked. You’re kidding me indeed.

Quite a few defend him any time the incident is brought up on these boards.

I'm not one to get into the whole "paint the fanbase" stuff, but this is ridiculous. Many Canucks fans still defend Bertuzzi. Lots of Leafs fans still defend Domi. It's hardly a Caps thing. They're just the one with the big d-bag on their team doing d-bag things right now.

I'm still of the opinion that this will get nothing, because both Panarin and Buchnevich never lost full mental faculties, and therefore the PR from the media is not going to shame them into doing something, especially to a player who is as important to one of their bigger money-making franchises as Wilson is to the Caps.

That's the league's history, at least. I'll be more than happy to be wrong.
Don’t disagree. What will happen vs what should happen are two different things.

If someone did that to Ovy, Caps fans would be calling for them to be banned for life.

Some of us remember how holier than thou they acted after Ovi Speared Frederic in the nuts because he got crosschecked. Something about respect.

Then the next game Wilson got suspended for a headshot on Carlo and Frederic scored the game winner.

Sometimes people overreact when it comes to Wilson but when he really does cross the line he is the biggest piece of shit in the league and so I can't really blame people for the overreactions on the weak stuff. It's not "haters" it's a player doing dangerous shit on the ice and 99% of fans of any team being able to recognize that.

The fact that the deleted tweet is now circulating virally is going to really piss off NHL headquarters.

You’d like to think that wouldn’t impact the disciplinary process, but in this context you have to wonder if it adds a bit of prejudice to the decision.
The whole thing was a clown show. From the cross check to the neck of Buchnevich and subsequent neck punch to a prone player to ragdolling Panarin head first to the ice while he's without a helmet to the ridiculous alpha male ape flex in the penalty box to this stupid display on Twitter, the whole thing has been a complete and utter embarrassment to the league tonight. And its all because of a known offender that the league just doesn't care to punish.

Its long past time that this man gets benched for a long, long period of time.

Entirety of the Rangers basically called him a POS in all of their pressers.

Let’s see how the league reacts.

As a fan of a team that Wilson has rekt players multiple times over the years this is the problem. They always respond after the game instead of during the game. That’s why I don’t even get mad at Wilson anymore. I get mad at my team for not responding to it.

Lindros used to do the same shit to us and then Kasparaitis hit him with a savage hit and that was the end of that.

I disagree. I thinm that crosses the line. what he did goes beyond fisticuffs

Saying that Wilson is in the heads of opposing fans and that it was a lot of nothing is maybe questionable, but it's not something that's going to get someone in media relations overruled. As Tarheal points out, putting in the word "violence" in a promotional context pushes it over to a whole different level.

I think he'll get like 25 games or something, then 40, and then most likely season bans until his contract is terminated.

Those are disgusting, cowardly actions. He can fight fine. Why does he have to play dirty? He's scary enough when he's playing hard but clean.

Dirtiest and the most hated player in the game for the last few years. He is out to hurt people, total scumbag.

He does not care and knows the league will let him get away with whatever he does. Time to teach him a lesson, suspend him till next year.

Color me surprised?

Can't wait for the Caps fan base to shut up once the suspension is handed out. Already seems like a good chunk of them have accepted that it's coming. You know he is dumb when he does this right before the playoffs and they already locked a spot. Can't defend dumb.

That’s bc caps depth players been healthy. When ovechkin, Kuznetsov, Oshie, and Carlson are the guys getting hurt or being out - yes - it’s a little different than Garnet Hathaway being hurt.

Caps also have a new coach with shortest training camp in past 25 years - and in a whole mew system they’re still learning are still in first place.

thats what the cap hit stat tracks... how many high end players miss... the caps have been healthier than almost the entire league overall and have had fewer key players than most miss time.... Pittsburgh is top ten... Boston is higher than the Pens... Washington is virtually irrelevant in injury time missed compared to those two.... under half the man-games missed and millions less in lost cap hits
