I mean personally, I agree with you about Wilson. But it is relevant to bring up other human scum like Marchand as well in the course of the discussion.

Again, he's not comparing and contrasting. He's deflecting because the position is weak on the hill he's chose to stand on. Marchand has nothing to do with Wilson slamming another player's head into the ice and then punching it. He's using what he perceives as my fandom against me to to try and devalue my opinion on the argument. Anytime I see someone use whataboutism, I automatically think they're just not educated or know they're wrong but don't want to admit it.

Ah.... We've only got fake angles here and you select few Caps fans have special angles that show totally different situations (but don't show to anyone else). Sure...

Where precisely Wilson makes connection with his punches isn't really the issue here. I hope you understand that.

The NHL is using those fake angles again, just like the last time Wilson got suspended.

The NHL will do nothing and there are no drawbacks to Wilson acting like that, so he won't stop. If the Rangers wants him to stop, they need to escalate the violence and somehow injure him. That's what Wilson is intentionally trying to do, so he's fair game.

Was he just supposed to watch Wilson continually punch him in the back of the head/neck? Maybe the player shouldn’t of thrown those dumb punches in the first place?
English is important. Note I used the word 'continue'.

Does not matter how in the wrong any person is, if someone else continues to enact whatever sort of 'justice' upon them, you can bet that person is not going to just back down and let it happen. Certainly not a Tom Wilson. Panarin should have disengaged after the piggy-back ride served its purpose.

My team is in the playoffs and I can assure you that Tom Wilson is indeed a douche and the collective ignorance of the Caps fanbase about it is astounding.

Every fanbase is going to look through the rose colored glasses, but you guys go full on blinders for the guy. I have secondhand embarrassment for the ignorance.

Dude is flexing in the box because he was throwing around and cheap shotting skill players. He stands alone on Douche Mountain.

I don't think the little shot he gave Buchnevich on the ground was that bad but he could have have seriously hurt Panarin by trying to drive his head into the ice like that. Unless you're getting pounded on and have no choice you can't be doing that.

Gonna be blunt, anyone defending Wilson here probably needs some help.

Guy is clearly a freaking psycho. This is 100% a guy who will probably spend some time in jail cells after his career is done.

It's just on-ice antics and playing his role. If you check out his or his gf on instagram, they're softies.

I love Willy in beast-mode, but I didn't like the Panarin slam tonight. Dangerous, but the guy was incensed the whole game after that penalty. He lost his mind and when things piled up there, it was ripe for a blow-up. Shouldn't be surprised.

Psycho? No.

Says the guy with the Wilson avatar.

Unsurprisingly, you’re not a reliable narrator, here.
good job going after the equivalent of my clothing instead of the content of my speech.
How can you possibly defend that?
define "defend". Do I like it? Not really, I don't think he needed to punch him and probably could have just tweaked his nose and facewashed him or whatever. Am I going to call it intent to injure? No, that's silly, because it's a short jab in a scrum. There's no finish, it stops practically on contact, it seems almost explicitly tailored to be uncomfortable without actually causing any lasting damage which is exactly what you want in most hockey extracurriculars. Ideally they don't occur on the ice, but sometimes they do, and I think appropriate measures were taken to give Buchnevich a shot to the chops without thunking his head off the ice.

Everything after is a pretty natural and organic escalation, people can debate the morality of tossing Panarin around if they want but in my opinion if you jump on a guy's shoulders that is a thing that can happen to you. I don't fault him for doing it but I won't fault Wilson for taking over either.

It's not something you see every game or anything, but without even trying over the course of the year you probably see (and fail to really care about) a handful of "crime of opportunity" moments where suddenly a guy who arguably deserves it is right in front of a guy willing to go "hey f*** you" and pop him. It's hockey. You're basically encouraged and discouraged to play that game in equal parts for any number of reasons.

I don’t give a shit if they went 0-100 in their last two playoff series. Only one team wins the Stanley Cup. And last I checked the Capitals didn’t win either.

And let’s keep acting like it’s the exact same team and making more stupid assertions. You truly are on a roll. You should quit your day job and become a hockey analyst.
I make too much money at my day job to be an analyst/work in hockey - but thank you very much. A hockey team would be very lucky to have me in their front office... but I’m good.

He is a million percent getting suspended for this LOL

No way. If anything DOPS should call in Panarin for a hearing and ask him what the f*** he was thinking taking on Wilson while he weighs like a buck 20.

I’d sentence Panarin to some video watching Wilson plow people and write an essay about what not to do next time :sarcasm:
