To sign or not to re-sign that is the question with Freddy Andersen.?

Andy's 13-6-2 record is such an awwsome piece of evidense of fine ice hockey that WINS! WAY TO GO ANDY! Keep it up ! WITH THE WINS! 2.76 gaa is pretty awwsome too, lets get some more WINS next week!! WE ALL LOVE YOU!!

Gibson's playing better than his stats suggest. I think he's a true #1 elite goalie and he could be the piece we need to finally go deep in the playoffs. He's also on a great contract. I'm tired of Andersen's performances in game 7 of the previous playoff series, he is not clutch at ALL!

If we could snag Gibson for Andersen, a 1st round this year and some other piece I'd do it.

He's really not. At least not significantly. He hasn't been an elite goalie since Anaheim was good.

He's worth Andersen, Kokkonen, and a 1st right now. They likely don't take it, but that is the max price because we have that contract to worry about it.

How long are we going to endure this terrible play? The guy hasn't stolen a single game for us in 2 years.... not a single game. Even the absolute best teams of all time need their goaltender to steal games come playoff time, and we aren't that.

We're a very good team that if we acquire goaltending, would have a real shot come playoffs. BUT.... we won't get out of the first round with this kindof goaltending. Not only that, but Freddy has been at the epicenter of *every* collapse we've been through over the last 4 years or so. When are we going to say enough is enough, the guy isn't a starter anymore, and he was *never* a player who could play under pressure. So now he sucks under pressure AND he sucks during normal times.

I know Campbell isn't the answer, but could he be any worse? No. He can't be.

Wonder if gets traded for another goalie in the coming weeks with not much term left.
Someone like Holtby, Dubnyk, Rinne or Raanta/Kuemper.

Still have faith in Andersen coming around but the risk with him being our starter is very high. I wouldn't mind a deal if it can be made. Best hope right now is Campbell getting healthy, risky rolling him as a starter but much less than it is with Andersen.

Stay far away from all of them except Kuemper who's injured and out for a bit. Those are lateral moves with less upside (when Fred actually plays well, been a while).

History shows us he’s going to play better than this at some point during the season. But he’s also going to return to this level of play in a Game 5, 6 or 7 when we need him most.

Father is very mad he says Fred has to go. He also said the Leafs will know not to play him come playoffs and that Campbell will lead us!

Andy’s last four games save percentage:

.871
.826
.889
.844

The season overall, .899.

Looks like starting goaltending numbers to me! :sarcasm:
10 of 21 games hitting in the below .899. This guy is done. Dubas has to trade him for Keefe. Spending assets for a quality starter to keep our winning season going is acceptable. Keeping Andersen as the starter is not. Crazy how much he has declined. Paramount Dubas makes the next save by getting rid of him.

They're not ideal I agree. It's more of a change for the sake of change proposal because goaltending is gonna be this teams downfall at the rate it's going.

Khudobin, Ullmark, Bernier, Reimer if they ever become available. Could free up some cap space too. Hardest part may be disposing Andersen and his cap hit (not the salary, that's well under 1m now), hopefully acquiring something if anything in return.

It seems like the obvious answer would just to do a deal involving Hall @50%/Staal + Ullmark with Andersen, Engvall, and some futures going the other way.

Ullmark is not ideal but he is at least playing well right now and would not be costly to acquire on cap or assets.

If we acquired one of them and they continued playing the way they are, but Andersen bounces back, it would look and be a bad situation. Moving a player like Andersen who's still believe it or not popular among the team wouldn't be good for the room, especially how close he is to Matthews. I don't think Matthews is gonna give him the cold shoulder now or leave him on read tonight. "We can be friends again when you can stop a beach ball". Getting another goalie has gotta be worth it, they gotta stop pucks at least, hopefully also freeing up some cap space.

I'm surprised how well he's holding up in a shitshow like Buffalo. He's actually playing really well and the one light of that team. The way he's playing Buffalo might want to move him out as a rental asset. Rare for a goalie to be a rental but the Leafs are a fit.
