Guy hits, fights, shoots, passes, does it all and provides leadership. He has the "winners heart" so to speak that so many wanted to see from Hubie.
When I watched Colorado play in finals and compared it to Panthers, I realized that this type of mentality was lacking in general and caused Panthers to go down so easily. Team is always bigger than one person. That I have learned for example as a Bayern München fan since 1985 in football. Within a week we lost the guy (Lewandowski) who had been the best player in the world for a couple of years but were able to acquire a new younger defensive leader (de Ligt) and probably solve issues that caused the biggest problem last year. A trade can be an opportunity for a better future too. We can remember the good memories that Hubie gave us but the reality is that no Stanley Cups were won.

Every single page I read "why did Florida do this", I'm amazed at the lack of comprehension, Weegar is going to Ottawa and Huberedeau loved it here by MT is signed for 8 years till he's 32 and Huberdeau is gonna be signed from 30 to 38. The Panthers will 100% be worse next year but it's literally 1 year of pain where the pain is probably still making the playoffs lol. And that's assuming no trades for a dman.

What’s the word on what the panthers are going to do to get under the cap? Personal opinion I think you guys are in for a dog fight this year in the Atlantic and then take off next as that yandle buyout comes off the books.
Duclair is out 4 months, they can LTIR him and be compliant

I'm not convinced that we're going to be in much pain next season.

Assuming no trades:

Tkachuk - Barkov - Reinhart
Verhaeghe - Bennett - White
Balcers - Lundell - Hornqvist
Lomberg - Luostarinen - Cousins

Forsling - Ekblad
Gudas - Montour
Carlsson - Staal

Bobrovsky
Knight

Huberdeau is almost certainly better than Tkachuk next year but it's not a huge difference. I'm a Weegar is overrated guy but losing him is a big loss, that defense is not good. Top 6 forwards are great, top 3 defense too, bottom 6 and bottom 3 are bad. Goaltending is fine.

No posts on neither Hubby’s or Weegs IG accounts… they must be f***ing FUMING!

Some dude on the Habs board mentioned that one of acquaintances who knows Huby first hand said that he's really pissed because he has to leave Florida.

I see Eric Staal getting a contract

Respectfully, I disagree. Better team defense, slightly less offense and we’ll be pretty good still.

Edit: Actually I should say of course we’re going to be worse. Offensively that’s almost a given because we’re going to be less run and gun. I don’t think we’re overall a worse team though in terms of what we can accomplish.

I like Huber and Weegs both, I've enjoyed their time here, but this was the right move for the org.

I'd rather have former players pissed and saying nothing rather than some PR-drafted fake goodbye when they sign a bigger contract somewhere else. Or worse, having to celebrate a life-long overpaid Huber/Weegar when their number is retired because we haven't wont shit and have nothing else to celebrate.

Dallas doesn't need 11 m for robertson. Maybe Klingberg signs there for more than he signs for here? Maybe he likes the direction Anaheim is heading? They were aggressive this summer...great base of youth there. JG signed in Columbus....

As for your last sentence, I certainly hope so. I understand and like the trade, but we could be in for an interesting season if thats our D.

It can’t be Zitos end vision for the defense.

If they could add Klingberg they could reload while have a run at the Cup next year. They wouldn’t be the favourite but they’d still be loaded with high end talent and will be stylistically very different looking team.
(Lundell’s development could play a major role)

& sure Robertson won’t take 11 but they should absolutely try to get him under max contract, 8x8 and they have Heiskanen, Miller& Hakanpää who all play right side.

& if Kling is not going to get the money and term he will look at a team where he could put the most points and raise his value

Idk, I just don't see it. You don't base your plans around a UFA that has his pick of the litter.

I still think best option for Kling would be Dallas, they'll be better next season, Oettinger will be more established, they should score more with Bowness gone. Miller can be the 7th or 8th D.

We might still see some work on defense yet, but I don't agree that the bottom six is bad. It's more grinding than it is offensive like it was last year, but arguably that's what we needed more of.
