Any draft is not just about the Round 1 picks, but as much about overall Organizational and position depth. Especially when the team isdrafting toward the end of the Round, as they very well expect to be.
Obviously, the lower the round the percentage of a prospect making it to the League lessens; but it does happen ( see Weegar as that fairly rare example).
But to me, it seems Zito is convinced that in looking for players with prior NHL experience, wanting a second opportunity in the "Show" and willing to sign 'prove it type short term deals, is a better and faster way to get that 'ELC contract value mix' into the Roster's CAP!
