You cant hit the eye through a goalie mask with the toe of your stick. Credit to Quicks constant flop-mode.

If the stick dont fit, you must acquit!

Yeah that's intentional, even he didn't try to get his eye why would you poke him in the head at all? Tkachuks are so unlikable because of shit like this. Like father, like sons.

That's not the issue here, the issue is that he's standing behind a goalie and the extremely slim window that a player could intentionally do that.

I think Tkachuk was trying to wave his stick in Quick's face and tap him in the mask to screw with him, because he's an agitator asshole. I don't think he intentionally rotated his stick to get into Quick's mask and spear him in the eye.
If we want to give this scumbag the benefit of the doubt saying he meant to jab Quick in the face with his stick but not get into the eyehole, it should be purely semantics as far as nhl “justice” is concerned.

If you deliberately do something scummy outside the rules of normal play, you’re responsible for the result. In this case, the result is the toe of his stick hitting quick dangerously close to his eye. It’s such an unnecessarily dangerous thing to do, and impossible to explain away as anything other than dirty.

As far as I’m concerned, the guy is a complete piece of shit who has proven a number of times he’s not worthy of the benefit of the doubt.

And no one stood around smirking during the scrum that followed. I'm flabbergasted to say the least. Think about the injury risk!
Yeah - Kopitar's had one fight in his NHL career and a Lady Byng. He was the first one to step in and defend Quick.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was intentional. Guy's got a paper trail specifically with stick violations. I also wouldn't be surprised if nothing came of this from Player Safety.

Well, that was complete garbage by Tkachuk and there's no excuses, but I also gotta say if that hit Quick in the eye, maybe the goalies need to start wearing masks which actually protect their eyes?

We are only a few years away from days when some players chose to not have ANY eye protection whatsoever because they thought their comfort on ice (or however they phrase it) is more important.

Goalies wearing masks that wouldn't allow opponents to INTENTIONALLY get their stick through any gap is quite a stretch, don't you think? When like the most essential requirement to play the position is about being visually able to track the puck well.

No I'm someone who actually played goalie my entire life and know how goalie masks work.

To say that Tkachuk intentionally jabbed Quick in the eye with his stick, as he was standing behind him, is just stupid.

That’s terrific.

A lot of us have skated outside goal our entire lives and can tell you if we roll our blades over, it’s to cause damage. There’s zero reason for hatchet stance otherwise, especially after the play.

Tkachuk is a dirty prick and he should get 10+ games for this. He intentionally put his stick into the mask of Quick. Do I think he was trying to spear him in the eye? No. To intentionally put your stick anywhere near the vicinity of someone's eyes should be a very long suspension

Someone on the Kings will go at him next game and my bet would be he won't drop the gloves, or he pulls a TkaCluck and turtles like the coward he is. Thought he turned the corner on this type of bush shit last year but apparently they don't have the leadership in the Panthers dressing room to keep him in check. Giving him the 'A' is an embarrassment to the Panthers organization, unless you were trying to make sure everyone knows he's an Asshole.
