Diaz is more valuable than you think. Aside from Markov, he's our smartest D. That quality really shows up when our D is getting the puck out of our zone, which has cost us goals when they don't clear it or pass it properly. Diaz rarely makes those kind of mistakes.

Plus he would be a great partner to play with Tinordi.

Glad that Therrien is the coach.

I remember the days when Martin would bench his young players for making mistakes.......O"Byrne for example......

I cringed when he launched that puck over the glass but was happy to see him back on the ice after the penalty was over.

Agreed, although I still maintain that the kid had absolutely 0 support on that play. He should have banked it off the glass better, but the rest of the team needs to be conscious of the fact that a rookie has the puck and that he's under pressure.

I didn't see Tinordi lose a puck battle or make a bad pass. Good signs.

You didn't watch hard enough. He attempted at least one pass in open ice that missed by a few feet and resulted in an icing instead. Not to make a mountain out of it, just saying it happened.

He must be watching Gorges play too much.

imagine what o byrne could of been if martin/gauthier helped him work through his struggles and growing pains. i saw the kid when he played for cornell against princeton and he was a giant. i hate how the past we were willing to let people go when they struggle only to watch them bloom elsewhere

O'Byrne sucks. He can barely play for the Avs. He sucked for us, he sucks for them. A bad player is a bad player is a bad player.

I see a lot of the same things I saw in london. he likes to try and take the body rather than play the puck especially just inside the offensive zone. He did it in his first game up. It cost the Knights many an odd man rush as he was not often quick enough to get back and recover. He needs to curb that and try and be more patient under pressure.

Exactly. Don't know where this lost love of O'Byrne is coming from. Next thing you know delusional Habs fans are going to say we should trade for Hainsey :shakehead

very good points. was at that game against sabres and it really looked like he was sort of out of place. he needs to find his spots in the NHL. Just an observation ; our physical DMans are ALL very mobile for stay at home style, they can join the rush or make a comeback after a bad pinch - that's our force ... but not tinordi, he's not like that. For that kind of player to be really effective and become great, they have to be phenomenal at positioning imho. Relies a bit on his reach to make up for it... im really on the fence with him. he could prove me wrong or turn into komisarek 2.0 it all depends on his brain.

I still am not sold on Obyrne being this monster in Colorado. I've seen him play there and as much of a good teammate he was here, I'm totally fine with him not being in our lineup. Gorges is probably the least mobile D, but he is excellent defensively and a lot quicker that OB. We need the mobility at all times to help the system flourish. Sure, OB can push guys, but I've seen him try, fail to do so and just not have the vision and coverage that people wish to bring back to Montreal. Still would be a #7 in my lineup, but that's just how I prefer our formation. Tinordi's potential is in a whole other league and he'll be given the chance to develop. I also hear Beaulieu ain't so small either and Ellis will be very solid so I'm cool with where we stand.

Tinordi is a better skater than most of our D corp. AKA everyone not named Subban and Diaz.

A 6'5 mobile dman who blocks shots and can play the body, drop the gloves....yeah, who would want that? He sucks. He's everything Boullon is, plus a foot.

O'Bryne isn't great but he would've been so much more competent if we had a better development team in front of him. A good #5/6, something we could really use now and in the past.

Haha, normally I'd start doubting myself a bit here, but that frame and that number just stick out too much to be wrong on this one! Whatever period it was, if someone was bothered to go back and watch it, the Habs were going right to left on my screen, and the pass was from in/around the top right faceoff circle (so, Price's right) through to the neutral zone in the bottom.

You're right, It was in the first period. I mentioned it in the PGT.

Not realy he's Avs wrost defencemen on a very bad defence squad, plus he doesn't realy drop the gloves since he left Montreal, he's a PK specialist and a liability on ES, there was a thread about the wrost duo in the NHL and Avs fans were pushing strongly for Zanon/O'Byrne, he hasn't changed since he left Montreal, except he doesn't drop the glove anymore, Subban has fought more since the departure of OB. He has good acceleration but bad mobility, we all saw him play in Montreal i don't know how he became that shot blocking, amazing skater, goon monster in the head of some people.

Bouillon is way more solid on 5v5 and can play against the top lines in the league, he has surprised me a lot this season.

I respectfully disagree. You could make a case about the top speed I guess but not about the tweeks and turns. not even close imho.

Agreed. No better way to ruin a kids confidence than benching him for a mistake you see almost every game.

Therrien, despite my pre-season criticism, is doing a fantastic job across the board. The crow is delicious.

Tinordi is very mobile. Maybe even more so than Komisarek was. It's alright to need a period of adjustment when you start in a stronger league than you used to play in. I wouldn't be too worried if I were you.
