Happy the Kings took Durzi instead of Liljegren. Could work out for both teams.

This is actually incorrect. Kings asked for Liljegren - leafs offered Durzi. Nonetheless - Liljegren's value keeps going higher and higher each game. He's looked like a top 4 RHD stud playing with Giordano the last couple games. He just keeps having the best game of his career each month, improving at a linear rate - it's crazy

I'll be the first to admit i was downplaying Liljegren quite bad a couple months ago cursing that we should have held onto Durzi instead. But boy was I wrong if he keeps progressing like this. He's looked like an absolute stud

Lilijergen has been solid, coming into his own! Not sure the Leafs trade him.

Not a chance. I view him a good deal higher than Sandin currently. He's very mobile, probably our best or second best outlet passer, best point shot and he's coming in to his own defensively and compliments Giordano well. He's recently started getting more of an edge to his game too.

21 y/o right hand D, 1st round pick. Blue chip.

No way Dubas trades him! Giordano is going to help him develop even more!! This kid will be a gem.

He's very, very good and every analytic out there says the only thing stopping him from being our #1 is TOI. The guy produces more offense than Rielly per 60 minutes at 5 on 5 and is one of the league's best defensemen in terms of xGF%.

Think his reduced TOI is to keep his next contract low.

Also for this thread I think alot of people forget he was once ranked as high as 2nd OA in his draft class before mono. Leafs fans actually wanted to tank to get him, and he slid all the way down to 17. Took him a few years but he’s showing that once his mono went away and he got his body back up to speed he’s showing signs of being back on track for his original trajectory.

Sorry edited as grammar was bad

I think he is vastly overrated and also vastly underrated depending on who you ask. There are some obvious warts in his game (quick decision making in his own zone, playing strong in front of his own net, board battles) and some really great qualities to go with them (skating, passing, transition play, offensive zone decisions). I think he caps out as a good #3 guy personally with a bit of a chance to be a solid #2. He has lots of time to get better in the strength department which I think will improve his game a lot in the defensive zone, and he’s been quite a bit more engaged physically this season. The decision making should also improve with more experience as he’s still very fresh in the league.

He leads the Leafs for dmen in virtually every stat that matters 5 on 5 with the exception of TOI. Do you realize how lazy and uninformed you are?
It would have been shorter to simply state that you did not realize it.

And insults are now allowed ?
You came in here and called my post backed by stats laughable. You're not the victim here dude.
Wrong. I did not call it laughable, I called it funny.

Big difference.

Liljegren is playing like a top 4 d currently, if he keeps this up into next season he will be a top 4 two way D for us. Hes has a few weaknesses like clearing the front of the net, but his weaknesses can be fixed with time, Strength and development. Skies the limit for the kid if he continues to progress like he is currently.
