I imagine comparables will be around Hronek, Marino, Lindgren, i.e. 3-4m right ?

All three of those guys had multiple full, or close to full seasons and played top 4, if not top pair minutes. Lindgren is probably the closest but even he played 20 minutes last year.

Probably more like 1-2 years, ~$1.5m. Something longer term maybe gets to $3m but I’m not sure the players go for that. They know they’ll be getting some more opportunity over the next couple years.

Okay thanks for clarifying. Either way he's far from waiver fodder. Muzzin would waive his NTC rather than risk getting picked up on Waivers by a team like Arizona.
Exactly. If the Leafs want to move Muzzin... they'll find a mutually beneficial solution where the Leafs don't get quite what he's worth, but Muzzin gets to go where he wants.

Would part with a 2nd rounder for him.
Would rather use a 1st to simply take a defenseman in the draft - usually a mid-1st will get you one of the top 5 defensemen in the draft.
May as well start with a fresh asset who will have equal runway on ELC and RFA years, and a potentially higher ceiling.

I am no Leafs fan and yes, Liljegren has been used in a fairly limited role but he's been outstanding. The Leafs have the benefit of being able to slowly introduce both he and Sandin into roles and it's been working beautifully so far. It's no guarantee that they can sustain the same type of impact moving forward (Dermott also had pretty nice fancy stats a few years back as a youngster...though not close to this good) but given their age and skill level - one would have to be bullish on their prospects.

I think Liljegren is absolutely living up to his draft position at this point (17th overall) - so to think he's worth anything less than a mid-first in the 2022 draft is pretty crazy IMO.

Liljegren has a lot more value to the Leafs than he does in a trade until his reputation catches up with his play. At 5 on 5 he leads all Leafs defensemen in xGF%, GF%, corsi%, fenwick%, assists/60, points/60, is 10% points clear of any other dman in terms of xGf% paired with Rielly and is the only defenseman in the NHL to feature on 3 of the NHL's top 20 D pairings by xGf% at 5 on 5 with a minimum of 100 minutes played together. Of those 3 pairings, he is a member of 2 of the league's top six. The only thing stopping people from seeing how good he is is that his TOI is low and he hasn't played a single second on the powerplay.

I'm shocked the general consensus is that people from other teams fanbases like him.

I've gotten so used to the Overdrive idiots and the Coliacovo's of the world I fully expected this thread to be a shit show.

Time would have been this season pre-deadline in a package for a legit #2/3 right shooting D and go for it this year, he has more value to them going forward as a cheap option for at least a couple years with legit top 4 upside

Happy the Kings took Durzi instead of Liljegren. Could work out for both teams.
