He could be a 45 point two way player. Like a more offensive stralman.

Jake Gardiner was actually a good player though. He did a lot more good than not playing for us.That's his ceiling.
Terrifyingly, his floor imo could also be right handed Jake Gardiner.
I trust the Leafs and what they are doing with his development, because there's been some scary signs at times despite strong underlying numbers.
He's much better defensively than either Stralman or Gardiner were when they were his age. .700SV% goaltending really skewed the perception towards "He's bad defensively" when really he's been dominating 5 on 5 play on any pair for the most part this season. That's his ceiling.

He’s quite Brodie-esque, no?He's much better defensively than either Stralman or Gardiner were when they were his age. .700SV% goaltending really skewed the perception towards "He's bad defensively" when really he's been dominating 5 on 5 play on any pair for the most part this season.

again better defensively and offensively in his age 22 season. He’s quite Brodie-esque, no?
It'll come for Liljegren. I think right now he's still thinking and trying to be careful about picking his spots to be more physical (making sure he doesn't get caught without support). As he adjusts to the league it will become more natural and he'll read that better.I like some of the comparisons and find it fitting that of all people, Dubas had to find a not overly big but physical defender like Giordano. Gio's played and thrived in the rough and tumble western conference without having his size be a limiting factor... It would be great if our own mid sized guys can pick up some tricks of the trade from him.
Waaay to much ego on that list for that to ever happen and for them to eat crow. Instead expect a “well the kid played well because of Gio but that’s to be expected” or some crap like thatSo tomorrow will we hear Hayes, O-Dog, Carlo and Bieksa say what a great young D prospect we have in this kid.....Keep doing what you’re doing kid, you may not be the flashiest but your putting in solid minutes and putting up points.
Personalities can eat some crow!
I like Lilly a lot and those are some big ass traps but unlike someone who is 6’4, 220 he isn’t going to have the lower body strength of an Ekholm, Hedman or Manson body type where they can just own the front of the net. I don’t think you need 6 guys like that but you’re probably better off having 3 or 4. I think Lily and Brodie are amazing though, just pair them with our bigger defenders and we should be good.
The worst part of this is that all of these guys call Leaf fans "Joe from the Bridges" or "dopes" implying that we're impulsive and poor at thinking things through. Meanwhile, their takes on Lily are the ultimate take of a real "dope" - impulsive, arrogant and negatively skewed by poor reasoning. So tomorrow will we hear Hayes, O-Dog, Carlo and Bieksa say what a great young D prospect we have in this kid.....Keep doing what you’re doing kid, you may not be the flashiest but your putting in solid minutes and putting up points.

He could honestly be like an all star level stralman... Potential is huge with this guy, with him, niemella and sandman the D is secure for years to come in TorontoHe could be a 45 point two way player. Like a more offensive stralman.
Jake Gardiner? If Lily is as good as Jake, we would be blessed. Jake was a hugely underrated d-man.That's his ceiling.

He's a bit small so he's going to be limited with moving players in front of the net but like Brodie he has everything else and just 22. Gio or Muzzin is a good partner for him.
Guys like Josi/Toews/Gio don't have to be big guys to be effective in that area. Neither does Liljegren.I like Lilly a lot and those are some big ass traps but unlike someone who is 6’4, 220 he isn’t going to have the lower body strength of an Ekholm, Hedman or Manson body type where they can just own the front of the net. You've said this twice now and have been wrong both times. It shows a limited understanding of net presence.I like Lilly a lot and those are some big ass traps but unlike someone who is 6’4, 220 he isn’t going to have the lower body strength of an Ekholm, Hedman or Manson body type where they can just own the front of the net.
