I think he should shorten that giant stick to a more manageable length. It seems to be the source of his problems when it comes to whiffing on the puck. Other than the occasional brain cramp...he seems to be ok.

Just 13 mins today. Embarassing treatment, but Leafs gono Leafs. Just trade him and get him out of this cancerous system of development. Niemela should be watching because this is whats coming for you as well.
Benoit at 22 mins is laughable

This post is laughable though too. Imagine crapping on Benoit who's simply out playing Lil at the moment. Lil was horseshit tonight, he deserved third pairing minutes.

Too? Thanks for agreeing with me. Also lets be honest, Benoit would be playing more even if performance was equal. The Leafs masterclass development system. Anyways if your happy with the trend of young d man failing to reach promise, you be my guest.

Between Darko, Keefe and Mike Van Ryn, I'm starting to think Toronto sports teams should just give up on coaches altogether.

Who said anyone is happy, you just come off really small crapping on Benoit, who's playing fantastic hockey for us. You need to get over stuff, Lill for years, you still have freaking Hunter as an avatar and he left six years ago, still fighting the Nylander Marner battles, like move on. I just can't talk anything you say seriously here, it's all agenda, all the time. Lil hasn't been misused, he has been given top four the last two years, if he's faltering that's on him. It's a shame too, because we need him. He hasn't evolved, either have you apparently. Benoit/McCabe is one of the few bright spots on D, but you be you.

Van Ryan isn't on their level. Too early even though he's been pretty bad so far, but the other two yeah we need replacements.

Agreed. And f*** Liljegren's feelings. Sick of trading away players because they are feeling sad. Either get better Timmy or deal with the consequences.
He can't handle pressure, he panics and treats the puck like a grenade. He's fine with space, but so is everyone, he needs to buckle down and make smart plays, not crazy off the boards survival mode. That's why his minutes are down, not because the world is against him. He looks a 6 atm.

PS. Has Hunter found an NHL job yet? Still not good enough?
Please you aren't fooling anyone. Your only issue with those topics is which side I stand on. If I supported Marner more, you would have no issues. If I liked Hunter, no issues from you. If I was anti Liljegren, you would have you gussed it no issues. The team hasn't evolved and neither have you.
That pair will struggle eventually but you be you

And thanks for proving my point. It took 10 seconds.

Doesn’t help when your coach publicly calls you out and ignores everyone else’s miscues ie Brodie mccabe rielly gio like look at the play Brodie doesn’t blocc the shot and then screens sammy to boot

Interesting that Liljegren has 172 career NHL games and Benoit has 171. Both are basically youngsters and should get better

Also interesting that the Ducks decided to not qualify him last offseason which allowed the Leafs to sign him as a UFA .. only for Benoit to show some growth and progression into a solid depth defender.

I think Lily need more time to keep growing.

Yo he's actually terrible.

I can't even think of what aspect of the game he's good at

Passing - horrible under pressure
Shooting - non existent
Defending - extremely mediocre and makes terrible reads
Physical - no
Protects net - no
Skating - mediocre

For sure they could and likely will but it’s just that one comes with the expectations of a first round pick and one is Beniot

I saw one Toronto writer had access to advanced stats and the overall best D man on the Leafs up to the break, by both defensive and offensive contributions, has been Lilly.

I would choose Rielly but after that, it's been a mixed bag for the whole crew. Some good and some bad. I am nowhere near as down on him as some are. The overplaying of Brodie and Gio has me far more concerned.

Beautiful B.C.
Bottom line, Benoit is playing a much better game overall without the boneheaded mistakes that Lily is prone to. I’m not giving up on him, but at some point he must be better.
Lets not exaggerate, here. I love Benoit and what hes doing but he literally threw a muffin down the ice, tape to tape to dallas for a scoring chance just today.

They are both young D-men, shit like that will happen. The fact that its still happening with Brodie, Gio and Mccabe is more concerning, though Mccabe is playing really well hes just NOT a puck handler lol. Dude loves to skate directly into the boards and pin himself there for the other team...

Is everyone forgetting Timmy had a high ankle sprain hes coming off of? That's one of the most difficult injuries to come back from, most of the time people would prefer a clean ankle break!

Good post to keep things in perspective

It's odd Keefe will literally breakup any pair but Brodie-Rielly. That pair hasn't been good either mainly Brodie but still.

It’s funny cause benoit is good for one a game but he plays hard and he’s physical he’s not the best at stretch passes but that’s okay give them the time to get better

I think that says a lot about advanced stats. Advanced stats also tried to sell us the story Benoit wasn't an NHL dman.

i said it for yewrs now and i still think the same thing than 2 years ago.

for me liljegren is a d with no savor.
he okay defensively but not enough to play a shutdown role and have a real impact ( like benoit exemple)

offensively can make some little thing but his lack of hockey QI make it hard to really gaving a real impact in that part of the game.

he dont have any huge weakness but at the same time he don't have any big strenght. So why i call it a no savor D...thats why i dont think liljegren will become one day anything else than a 3rd pair dman

No savor D? What does that mean?
