Tribute Timothy Liljegren part 2

I think my Brooks comment was taken the wrong way. All I meant was that Liljegrens development is in "priority" mode. So to send him down and deal with this maneuvering, the waiver claim needs to hit a certain threshold to make him say "okay fineeeeeee, where do I sign". Brooks meeting that threshold was unexpected. But glad to see him get another shot and wishing him the best.

I don't buy it has anything to do with Dermott. They'd give this game to Lil to get him ready for the playoffs if Brooks was never put on waivers for us to claim.

I agree with that, I think I did misunderstand what you were trying to say in the original post. His development should be and hopefully is in priority. If he can develop into a top 4 d, that only helps the club moving forward and would save us cap dollars in the next few years.

At this point every GM knows what they might get with Dermott or Holl, both of which should be sitting ahead of Liljegren.

I hope it’s just a paper transaction because if Dubas trades this kid for 4 months of Chariot I will lose my mind.

So we assigned Lily to the marlies only to claim Brooks and then waive him again and lose him to the jets?

someone in Leafs management getting bored or something so doing stuff just for the F of it?

I’m fairly sure liljegren gets moved up & down via paper transactions to accrue cap on days he’s not in the line up, so that part I think is moot. Now that the roster space has been cleared I don’t see him down for long.
I think they assumed that being so far up the waiver claim list there was a good chance they could get Brooks through. Too bad a couple Jets got hurt last night

Seems like they might have had a plan in mind but it fell through, that's the only explanation I can see. Otherwise, it's very strange to sit Liljegren when he's currently on a heater.
 
They put him on waivers then lose him, then get him back on waivers, then put him on waivers yet again and lose him yet again…….ya can’t make this stuff what a clown show……….

They tried to slide a depth guy they (and obviously lots of other teams) like down into the AHL for some added depth. Nothing to see here, nothing gained & nothing lost.

He’s a young defenseman who has his up and down moments. Clearly the organization likes him more than Dermott whose just sort of stagnated. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him breakout a couple of years down the line as a real solid top 4 but at the same time you’re going to have some rough nights.
 
He had a couple gaffes tonight, big deal

He's a rookie who had to babysit a vet making 5.6m a year, a vet who doesn't seem to have a f***ing clue who to cover in his own end right now

Some great moments, others were a miss. He's an NHL d man but not top 4 yet which we knew already. He's probably going down until Leafs figure out the cap.
 
He has a decent future. With Leafs against the cap he most certainly remains with the team and continues to grow. I may be an outlier on here but I would be willing to part with him in the right deal.

In fairness, I say that about many players, there are only a couple of truly untouchables for me on this team.

Lol he made a turn over that lead to the game winning goal. Muzzin’s coverage was horrible but Liljegren put the team in a horrible scrambled position

that being said he played very well. But the turnovers have to be eliminated from his game as well as getting caught too down low

I don’t disagree with anything after the first sentence, but Liljegren was not bad last night. He had a bad shift that lead to the game winning goal, but that doesn’t undo all the good plays he made. Unfortunately these things are going to happen with a player with so little nhl experience. Part of the growing process
