Versteeg thinks Leafs need top 4 RHD, so Holl can slot down to 3rd pair and get "lily out of the lineup".

Suggests Nick Leddy who is a better Ramus Sandin (bigger and shoots harder).

See 18 minute mark.

Hour 4: Marner's Creativity and Leafs Trade Fits with Kris Versteeg | The FAN Morning Show (simplecast.com)

Have at it.
All I got out of this is that Versteeg could play hockey but has no ability to analyze it. Nobody in their right minds thinks getting Liljegren out of the line-up should be a priority, especially when Holl is supposed to replace him lol. He's actually really good and has put up amazing results.

Everyboby is entitled to their opinion including Versteeg Time will tell where the Leafs think the problem lies and they have the ultimate say.

I'm guessing there has to be a move in the hopper. Can't see the Leafs willingly sending a d-man who's been in their top six fairly consistently to the AHL just so they could re-claim a forward they were previously fine enough with subjecting to waivers.

ROFL NICK LEDDY ......... what a moron .......
that is the opposite of what we need. a soft dman who cant defend ...... ya good "suggestion"

Some people can't analyze hockey and Versteeg is following a long list of them. Not a surprise he thinks his former teammate is helpful.
I'm convinced Bunkis tells whoever he brings on to rip Liljegren otherwise you aren't comimg on.

Liljegren had his two most complete games this season against Calgary and Seattle. I can’t comment on the Vancouver game as I missed it. If he was close to his best against Van., I can’t see how the Leafs won’t be doing their darnedest to evaluate him more as the games go deeper into the season. At this point he has to be considered as at least a strong contender for the 3rd RD position come the playoffs, after Brodie nobody is playing better.

depending on who and how many defenseman we acquire he might find himself being the 7th defenseman. Especially if Holl is still here after the deadline. I think they’ll roll Liljegren out a lot in the reg season but he’s likely scratched come playoffs DEPENDING on who we play and which dmen are on our roster of course

Jeremy Swayman was sent down again by Boston for a stint upon Rask's return. I think management know what they have in Liljegren. Don't see cause for dismay other than perhaps bringing to mind Holl... and McCann's twenty goals (and counting).

Quite possible, but if he's playing better than than others, give the kid the reins, imo.

Pretty pissed if he has to stay down there until March. Every time he heats up they toy with his development. Trade needs to come asap.

Agreed. It’s already hard enough for him to play with zero PP time despite excelling on the PP at every level. Now he gets demoted while playing the best hockey of his life, and while being the Leafs’ second best RHD.

Gotta hope it’s a paper transaction and he doesn’t miss time.

This is only move team can make to get Brooks back on IR and increase CAP space for a deal to add dmen before TDL .. don't read any more into these moves .. it is a function of being up against CAP that's it .. Holl was not able to be traded .. Dermy did not bring back what they wanted .. simple stuff here folks

But I heard we can get Chychrun for Holl or nothing less than a 1st. Puzzling.

Holl can be traded anytime.

The 'simple stuff' is realizing that the Leafs don't see a need to trade him.

Looks like Liljegren isn't coming back up until they make a trade and no guarantees that happens soon. I doubt Liljegren is impressed with whats going on here.

Great... way to nuke a guys momentum.. 5 points in the last 6 and +9 over that stretch and down you go because of Adam Brooks?

Should have waived Simmonds instead and have him pull a Spezza "I'll retire if you claim me"

both those guys have NMC they cannot be waived without permission. This is the most logical and least roster disrupting move. I’m sure they have explained it to Liljegren. This happens around the league all the time not sure why it’s such a big deal
