Tribute Timothy Liljegren Discussion Thread

I will once I start taking whatever drugs it is you're on. The defense was an absolute joke last night but I'm sure in your mind, we had three "legit top pair" guys out there.

Could have been worse. Could have given up 6 to the red wings.
 
It’s bad enough that they’ll have to try Liljegren over one of Holl or Dermott and hope it woks.

Folks I ave been telling you for years that Holl is a 6th/7th man at BEST .. last night was WORST WORST WORST I have even seen him play .. it was not even AHL level .. 2 badly missed defensive misses, 1 soft pass which created a turnover goal, a screen which he did himself so out tender could not see puck, OMG he was so out of position all game it was a complete joke .. Dubie wake da f*vk up and insert Lily OMG do it today

He started off decent last year but he faded at the end. He and Muzzin may be too slow to play together.

Liljegren is likely going back to the Marlies so Hutch can come up while Mrazek is out. (unless Mrazek is LTIR)

Seems like you solve that problem by putting Dermott with Holl and Liljegren with Muzzin, which is what it should have been from the start.

Dermott plays well with guys like Holl: played well with Bogosian, played well with Muzzin even when he was on his offside, and he even played well with Holl himself last year. He is playing well on his offside with Sandin too, but we are tossing them soft minutes. We can bump up Dermott's minutes a bit and have 3 solid pairings, and it doesn't even stop Keefe from double-shifting Muzzin and Holl together at times.

Liljegren's skating ability covers for Muzzin's weaknesses a lot better than Holl, and Liljegren is a refined defensive talent in his own right. Sandin has done well in a sheltered offensive role, but that is not what the Leafs need right now... And I fully believe that Liljegren can provide the same kind of PP value as Sandin if you need a 2PP replacement.

Maybe that is what Liljegren needs to do to get ice time.

Sandin was "antsy" for a while and he was gifted ample opportunities that he has not earned as a result.

Liljegren has been waiting patiently despite being ready for a while and he still has to wait his turn while we give Sandin a chance to be a sheltered 3rd pairing offensive defenseman.

They protected Holl and exposed Dermott. No way 2 games into the season they sit Holl for Lily. I would give Lily a shot with Muzz and move Holl down to the 3rd d pair.

That poster just has a weird hatred of Sandin for whatever reason. Sandin has been excellent so far and is only going to be better with experience. IMO his high end potential is far higher than Amirov Robertson or Liljegren simply because of his brain, that isn't something you can't learn or be taught. Liljegren to his credit did what he needed to do and had a pretty good pre-season, he is on the Leafs' radar and is going to get into games soon and it's up to him now to play so well that he steals a spot permanently, I would love it if we could afford to drop Holl from the team because that player has been infuriating me for three seasons now

Well we can agree to disagree on that. Liljegren has been more than good enough to earn a spot, but it should come at the expense Dermott or Holl rather than Sandin

Can't understand the Sandin hatred for the life of me. The guy's been a machine the first two games.

Dermott? I cannot believe they paid this guy $1.5M.. They don't even trust him on the PK yet, and he's STILL playing ridiculously low/sheltered mins. 13 minutes last night?? WTF. Just move on from this guy already. Sandin has easily been better defensively than Dermott these first two games.

I dunno man whatever drugs those are must seriously fry you brain something fierce if you think Dermott is an "upgrade" to any bottom pair in the league.
