i literally responded to your post referring to dermott and sandin, and that was our 1st interaction. so it seems we were discussing him lol. anyways...all i am saying is that the circumstances are vastly different than throwing a kid that had barely played the whole year directly into the playoffs and bringing in lily with 82 games of the regular season to see what we have in him, after him showing, to me, alot better all around game than sandin in the minors for the past few years. on a side note ive seen far to many boneheaded plays from dermott over the past 3 seasons to think that maybe he wont be anything more than he is. maybe its time for the new wave of dman to start getting real looks.

Then we're agreed. Seems our only point of contention is who deserves blame for the series loss.

my answer to that, is practically everyone lol. outside of willy and kerfoot to a lesser extent, the team and coaching staff all underperformed. sandin actually gets a bit of a pass from me given the circumstances in which he was thrust into that situation.
i spent a few nights after that cursing marner tho lol

edit: i will add spezza and rielly to that list haha

Liligren has two strikes against him.

Firstly he was a Hunter pick, not a Dubas pick and secondly he hasn’t performed that well in some previous call ups. All of which means he has to constantly prove himself to the coaching staff to earn playing time. It’s not fair but that is his situation.

The additional bonuses in his contract don’t help him either.

Personally I think he has more upside than Dermott and maybe even Sandin. Probably tops out as a #3 RHD.

I was the first guy on the internet to spot that Schenn had been rushed way too fast and that he wasn't very good in terms of skating...

Funny thing is, that years later when everyone hated Schenn, I liked him, he is an honest 6/7 NHLER and I wouldn't have minded hin back..

My point is, Liljegren is an excellent NHL D MAN.... Its pissing me off, he isn't on the team automatically..

Isn’t Dermott a Hunter pick?

Pretty sure he passed on Konecny and traded down to take Dermott and Bracco

I really don't like Dermott & Sandin together, but I'm guessing Sheldon likes the Muzzin/Holl pairing too much to break it up for Liljegren. I hope he at least gets a few looks early on but my guess is, if he does get an extended look it'll be Sandin sitting instead of Dermott.

Depending on what day of the week it is, to me that's either a good thing or a bad one. Sandin can look great but he does have his "green" moments. A full season hopefully helps him move past that. Dermott is more steady but brings a less impressive skillset (and obviously potential) than Rasmus.

To me, Keefe should be thinking about giving them as much ice time as they can handle so when the playoffs come they're a little less anxiety about them making mistakes. Dermott can handle sitting out - We know what he is and he's pretty much plateaued development-wise.

I hope they will actually scratch Sandin if he struggles. If they do, I'll take back the biased comments but we'll see. The problem isn't bias. Every GM will have biases towards their players they got. It's normal but problem becomes if you don't let performance dictate your decisions.
To their credit in the past they have, which is why he doesn't have 80-100 games in the league so far, but they've also shown him the "key to the city" whenever they can like plugging him on the PP1 position.

I think they'll let him work through any mistakes for the first 4-5 games or so, but if he starts costing them games or looks overmatched he'll get a pressbox seat to watch a few games ... I would certainly hope so at least

Dermott doesn't have enough offensive skill to work the PP and his defensive decision making is still a work in progress. He has tools but the toolbox is questionable. After 4 seasons in the NHL without much progression you have to wonder if he will ever amount to anything more than a #5D.

The idea that Hunter selecting Liljegren has any barring on his chances seems pretty far fetched.

Aside from the reality there have been plenty of guys not drafted by Dubas' make the team, even Liljegren's biggest fans would likely have to admit his play, especially in the past has been pretty uneven during his call-ups

Lilly, I would wager, was the consensus pick of all of leafs management. Everyone was watching his fall and licking their chops to draft him.
I doubt he is anyone's "pick".

I was the first guy on the internet to say ryan oreilly was the best ohler etc....

The paid heads picked him in the second round...

I said luke schenn was a horrible
top five pick...

my sons gf is drop dead ugly, what a world we live in

I tried to not look too closely, but from what i observed,..

nba tall, nfl ugly and he seems smiffed.\\

ME, top of the line, before his mom...MISS canadas miss uni;s etc...

Or even better stay single...\\\

SEEMS VERY ugly..,.

We were all DYING for him to fall to us. We couldn't believe our luck.
I remember when we won the draft lottery for AM34 thinking "there's no chance we can get Liljegren now. He's the RHD we've needed for 15 years". He was ranked #1 for a bit before the draft season really started.

We all know what happened during his draft year, but the tools are still there. He was asked to go down, work on his defensive side and dominate the lower competition - he's done that as good as anyone could.

He needs more than a sniff with the big club - he needs the same leash Sandin has.

Lilly has one major factor holding him back and that's in how he handles pressure. He never has the swagger he has with the Marlies up with the Leafs.
This is exactly why he needs to play in the NHL. You need to figure out if time can allow him to acclimate and play a confident game, he has nothing left to prove in the AHL.

He sure looks ready to me and even if he does struggle some in the beginning it's worth cutting him some slack so we don't kill his confidence. He's reaching the now or never point.

My partner, continually forgets to mention, or bring up, Liljegren, but having met and socialized with borje, I can say, he would be impressed with this guy...

I hope and pray, the leafs see what I see in this player..

I see a lot in this player.... i think dubas and keefe do as well.

I think Robertson, and lilly and Sandin, will define, Keefe and Dubas..

In a year or two, keefe and dubas, might be regarded as giants..

So guess what...... its at a point, fake a cake, bake a cake, make a cake etc... with this player..

all i can tell our fan b ase is this.....this nhler is not forgotten, not at all

I make my living placing a few bets on giantism...\\

Shapiro and atkins keep making me money..

I have never put a dime on dubas so far.....

I am pretty sure, dubas knows what i already know...

TIM could right now fit in and be a NHLer

But unlike Dermott, he knows this kid, TIM, could become a f***ing Horton for the leafs..

I have huge contacts.. I CAN get as far up dubas thoughts as anyone else...close to him

But as far as liljegren, and Keefe.... no more head scratching is requiredl.

they know what i know and all of us know..

The kid is an

nhler..

But maybe, he is a drew doughty.....

DiUBAS has had a lot of shit thrown at HIM....i think the guy is brilliant, lets see how it plays out.., The players love this guy btw...

All Dubas needs is this garbage to move out of his way..

In closing, this fan base, leaf management, sweden, and anyone else who gives a f***.

This player is loved by LEAF management..

LOVED, by swedes.

Loved by his supposed competition, rasmus.,..

We are not alone..... Everyone around this guy, loves him...
