Great news for you. Soon the Colorado coach will be available too.

the Kraken knocked off the Avalanche 3-2 in Denver while outshooting the Avalanche 38-20 last night.
I think he was referring to playoffs not regular season games.

That's some weird timing for Trotz to be floating that out there.

Bruins have a new coach. Habs have a new full time coach. Blackhawks have a new coach but don't need one where they're going the next 3 years. Red Wings have a new coach. Rangers have a second year coach.

The time to get Trotz was when Caps dumped him.

Lets do the math Barry says it would be cool to coach an O6 team one day. Plenty of teams courted Barry in the off season, he chose to take a step back for what ever reason.

Lets do an elimination game:

- Montreal just hired St Louis (43 Gms .442% win %)
- Boston just hired Montgomery (6 Gms .833% win %)
- Detroit just hired Lalonde (5 Gms .800% win %)
- Chicago is tanking on purpose and just hired Richardson (5 Gms . 600% win %)

Lets say for giggles those four are out of the Trotz sweepstakes

- NYR just hired Gallant (88 games .665 win %) probably safe to say Gallant is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Hmmmm ... what team is left, what team has a coach that may have overstayed his welcome and has under achieved? Who has the $$$ to go big game hunting? Hmmm ...

Maybe his way to tell Shanny he is interested without telling Shanny he is interested.

Pump the breaks on what the Toronto media said about what Trotz said.

Trotz said it was intriguing to coach an original 6 team but he also sounds pretty uninspired with the media and attention that comes with an original 6 Canadian team.

He also said...

"I think probably to get everything settled, I'm going to be into early December before I feel comfortable (that) I've got the family stuff in control and after that I'm probably going to have to take a little break, a week or two, to maybe go somewhere warm in the winter and then after that ..."

Does Trotz still want to be a head coach first, or could his focus turn instead to one day becoming a GM in the league?

"I can't really answer that, and the reason I can't is I'm consumed with what I'm doing right now," Trotz said. "I think I have the skill set to be able to do that. Do I know what I want to do right now? As of today, I don't."

So he wants to be a GM-Coach to replace Dubas AND Keefe? (Joking).

The poster is right saying that Trotz struggled to learn how to win in the playoffs. Then he figured it out after many years.

And I am saying we deserve a coach who already knows how to do it. Toronto shouldn't be a place to learn it should be a place for people who already learned.

We have a short window and we shouldn't waste it educating a brand new coach how to win in the NHL Playoffs, who is going to be with another team taking his knowledge there when he has figured it out.

My concern with Trotz is do we have enough personnel who could pull off his systems? And a GM who isn't tied to one singular vision to go with Trotz?

It would certainly change how the cherry pickers on our team play, Nylander would hate his system, Samsonov and Murray would instantly become legit 1A & 1B goalies. Trots coaches the game right, no cheaters, no passengers. Marner would be instant Selkie candidate, year in year out.

For me, this team plays an immature system, keep the puck at all cost and out individual skill the other team, which works well in the regular season when you play teams with lesser individual talent. IMO they have out grown their current system and coach.

In the playoffs every team has "some" high end talent, everyone, even the crappy Habs had Price at the top of his game + a coach in Richardson who simply out coached our system. There is a reason why we are out in the 1st round every year, the immature system we play is not a playoff system. The kind of positional accountability that you need to win a cup will never be in a Keefe coached team, its simply NOT a playoff system.

Then you get the "Yeah buts" Keefe is 123W - 53L -19OL (.674 winning %). He is the Leafs regular season most winning % coach of all time, that must mean something right? For Leaf coaches who have coached as many or more playoff games than Keefe, Keefe has the 7th worst winning % (out of 10 coaches), (.421%). He;s .350 points worse in the playoffs, does that stat only scream out to me? That means something, that's probably the most important Keefe stat you need to look at.

Elite skill in the regular season hides a lot of systematic warts, warts that you don't see in the regular season, that get exposed in the playoffs. Hire Trotz, end this charade of shinny hockey.

“Original Six, for me, I have never coached an Original Six team. That would intrigue me ... those teams always intrigue you. But the Canadian teams — you're under the microscope. You sort of are in New York, too. I think it takes a special coach, special player, to play (coach) in Canada because there's a different pressure."

Why bring up Canadian teams when the discussion was around O6 teams BARRY ?!?! Hmmmmm....

There are two O6 Canadian teams, Montreal wont hire an English coach, I'm going to go out on a limb and say Barry does not speak French. That leaves one Canadian O6 club.... ... I'm reading too much into this ... tell me I'm reading too much... OMG BARRY TROTZ IS COMING TO TORONTO!!!!!

If our system is so flawed for the playoffs why does it take everyone until the last period of game 7 to beat us? I haven't seen us get blown out defensively nearly as often as I've seen us unable to complete simple passes and get shots on net rather than trying to pick a corner, missing, and losing the zone on the ricochet.

The players get blamed daily in threads but somehow changing the coach will be what puts us over the edge, makes sense.

It takes MONTREAL to the last game to beat us, it took COLUMBUS till the last game to beat us. You don't see a problem with those two teams being competitive against us and eliminating us? Those two teams didn't out skill us. So why did they beat us?

What do you see when you watch this team this year?

Systematically what do you see when you watch the Leafs this year?

They beat us because our offense went cold.

When I watch the team this year I see an offense going cold.

People are acting like we're Edmonton where we only win 5-4 or lose 5-1, our problem is losing 2-1.
