Trelivings problems were totally created by the players. The Dubas quagmire is his own doing, and I believe it's going to get much worse July 1st 2024 for whomever is sitting in the GMs chair.
Please. Dubas knows jack about pure finesse. That core doesn't have his finger prints minus throwing money at it to extend their stay here.Dubas seems to (over) value pure finesse ability and offensive capability which we have an abundance of at the top.
Which has always made any conversation about trading a core piece away for something else feel like a loss, even though the return is completely open ended when it comes to balance.
Furthermore, he compounds the problem by being a bit of a pack rat to certain play types. The smallish heads up utility forward with a good head for the game, good zip and no finish. The smallish offensively oriented defenseman who can handle a puck clean. We have so many of those guys at every level and they don’t really augment the core.
His boss undercut him? Source?
Engvall has been trash, just because the points aren't racking up for Matthews/Marner doesn't mean they aren't playing well.
What is the issue with the things they can control?
They have no been playing well, I agree, but Matthews' line is out chancing the other team by a fair bit, one of the best play driving lines in the league.
My opinion based on the events we all saw happen.
Engvall is just one example of the numerous times Keefe has disciplined everyone except for the few he's not allowed. It's more often than not Nylander that gets punished for the poor play of the group.
The biggest issue is they play soft perimeter hockey. The on-and-off issue is they lack effort, focus, and intensity.
So you're ok with them not playing well, as long as it's better than their opponent? If I'm the coach, I want them to play their best regardless of opponent. That's one of the most consistent issues with this group - thinking then can turn it on and off whenever they feel like it. That's leads to play-offs when they can't turn it on.
You answered with your opinion, not facts or just ignored/misunderstood what I said, no point responding more.
This roster is the problem. Trotz would have a difficult time with it. Small team that can only play perimeter hockey. If they went out and got Trotz at least you’d know the embarrassment/60 from the coaches comments would be reduced significantly.

riiiiight
I can understand how someone who thought Burke was a good GM now thinks Dubas is competent, but really that isn't the case.
The jury is very much still out.
yeah I'm done. I have no faith in Keefe to manage a big game. The time to hire Trotz was .. . . . YESTERDAY.
Let's get er done!!!
As he should. And you wanna really rock the boat. Dubas goes as well. Then you trade 34, before he hijacks $15M a year out of them. You basically will get a Kings Ransom. Then go rogue and move 88 to centre w/Marner.i would be sweating my ass off if I’m keefe
Yes, I much prefer non-fiction over fiction, but your story was still good for a chuckle.I love your stories about what is and isn't discussed in contract negotiations

I've shared that sentiment as well. I'm not sure - and that's the problem: does anyone? - know where we truly are in terms of "going for it".Trades, they cannot afford squandering any more picks, if they do they might as well fire the amateur scouting department
