Yeah he clearly wants a long term deal to go along with the rest of his buddies.

He just knows that he’s only one side of the deal, hence the “maybe”.

Thing is, Dorion will be a willing partner, which I think Stu knows (educated guess) so he’s stoked regardless.

I think we all know that Pierre is going to sign Stu for 8 at a fair deal no matter what. The cap issues will come into play when it comes to figuring Cat’s longterm role.

After Cat and Sanderson, I don’t think we add long term to the core for a while :)

I think maybe Stu was speaking not in his native language and maybe doesn't realize the interwebs will dissect the meaning of every word he spoke.

Could have remembered mid sentence not to give away leverage in a contract year.

Brady said the same thing, in a way it puts much more pressure on management because it shows Timmy’s commited long term - and management should be committed long term too (and that looks like $50 million over 7 years as a starting point to negoatioations and it’ll only go up from there)

Fans will want Timmy signed now - one thing Brady Tkachuk has shown his teammates is to commit to the team 100%, but make management pay full rate for what they are getting And that is fair.

Timmy just put pressure on Dorion to sign him up, all the pressure now is on Dorion to sign him (like it was last summer with Brady) and fans won’t stop asking for it until it’s done.

Dang Stutzle looks jacked. I take back my jab about him training in Mykonos this summer.
Ya he said on 32 thoughts yesterday, he hired a personal trainer, trained all summer with him, concentrated on training, nutrition and sleep habits. Also said he took a one week vacation to Greece near end of summer and took his personal trainer with him , to also keep training there.

Says a lot about how damaged we are as a fanbase that a great quote like that comes out and we hyper-fixate on the maybe.
Some were, didn’t faze me, since he said wants to sign for a long, long time.

I think literally every comment saying that was in sarcastic jest to illustrate how people lose their minds over a meaningless snippet of dialogue. And it's true, because there's already an "analysis" about what the maybe really meant.

Thank you internet for making every tiny little thing a potential controversy

Why do English-skills of many European players/people worsen as they go on to live in an actual English speaking country? The high frequency use of 'like' and 'I mean' often remind me of high school girls.
It probably comes natural due to transitioning from reading and learning with English classics in school to simple vocal everyday talking, no?
No hate, of course.

I would guess it's because people tend to pick up the linguistic habits of those around them. These guys leave Europe and come into the North American social sphere where they hear speech like that often and it becomes normal to do it as well.

I'm not sure I'd agree that they worsen! I'd wager it's more a matter of trying to buy time while they find the words to express themselves. Over time — at least in my observation, your mileage may vary — European players tend to gain a wider vocabulary when they get more immersed in the language. They're able to give more precise answers, but the words they want to use don't immediately come to mind just yet. So the filler words are used as a delay tactic more than anything.

Those are subconscious crutches to give yourself a little more time to respond.

If he wasn’t speaking in a formal setting, he likely doesn’t use them as much.

100% native English speaker, and I noticed a bunch of stuff like that the first time I heard myself on a podcast.

This is definitely not exclusively a European problem. Every hockey player does this.

For sure. I believe the scientific term is "Vocal disfluencies," and they are common and useful in all speach.

In terms of powerplay proficiency you can drive a truck between Chabot and stutzle's skillet. I think stu's spot is safer.

As for hierarchy I'd rank them as

Stu
Norris
Tkachuk
Chabot
Debrincat
Giroux
Batherson
Pinto
Brannstrom
Sanderson (edit)
Joseph

I have Chabot so low because I think chychrun (or another top 4 trade) would knock him down.

I agree they can have 2 units that have the skillset of a first unit, but Stu's is on should be first.

In summer of 2023 I don't think there will be any dispute on this point.
Chabot is 7th in terms of pp ability. I think they should go 5 forwards with Giroux and Stutzle at the top. Giroux is an amazing pp player and is great on faceoffs for possession.

Agreed on Stutzle everything runs through him. He is the best pp player on the team. To me the only locks on pp1 should be Stutzle and Giroux.

I'd probably have Batherson on pp 2 with Chabot. He is creative enough to be the main piece. Pinto, Brannstrom/Thomson and Joseph round it out.

Have the Zub Sanderson pair ready for when the pp ends as to prevent a momentum shifting goal against after.

Have you spoken to him in person? Most of us only hear him when he is in front of a camera or mic.

My anxiety raises when I speak in front of an audience … I can’t imagine doing it well in a second or third language.

Stutzle looks jacked.

Could be a monster season upcoming. I predicted he would enter his prime the following year at 21, but with the teammates he has this year, and the training he has done, it might very well be this year. Would be monstrous for us to start competing so quickly.
