I honestly don't know how well this line works when I think about it. Who is going to go get the puck...
Stu is tenacious at going for pucks. He will get it in our end and break it out then feed whoever is the best option. I have no issues with Stu being the driver of that line. My only hope is he continues to learn to move the puck/shoot a bit quicker.
Yeah I mean, we don't really know what he did before hand. At least he is doing some training while he is on vacation.
He seems like one of the most competitive guys we have had for a while so no issues with how he approaches the off season. I think he wants to be one of the best in the world and will put the work in to reach that goal.

Debrincat doesnt need the puck to be effective but I do wonder how well this line will be able to sustain pressure in the offensive zone. Do you switch Brady and Giroux? Or Giroux and Norris? Giroux and Batherson?

Ya, puck retrieval probably wouldn't be that line's strength but I think they could score off the rush potentially as well as any line in the league

Not only is he tenacious, he is incredibly elusive so opponents struggle to take the puck from him. He has room to grow in both areas but the combination is a net positive when it comes to having control of the puck. Everything I know of DeBrincat is that he is relentless and is willing to go to the dirty areas as well, he has worked fine with Kane and much of the last three seasons they have been centered by Dylan Strome. Giroux is a fiery competitor, past his prime and not as effective but more than capable of pulling his own weight. None of them are a Mike Hoffman or even a Kyle Turris.

Not to mention with Giroux taking faceoffs we start with the puck about 60% of the time.
They are going to need to get Stu taking draws so that he can improve, I'm guessing Stu will take NZ and strong side OZ draws, Giroux will take the rest as well as any OZ draws where there is a mismatch they want to take advantage of (like after an icing).

One of the biggest reasons we didn't have greater PP threat and goals last year was our abysmal face-off wins. I mean.. Norris was at 57, but everyone else struggled; we had to bring in Tkachuk often... but Giroux is a ridiculous 64% basically.

Having one guy waived out still gives us a brilliant job to retain the puck to start the PP. That alone will be huge. On both PPs(depending where we put Giroux or Norris).

They used Brady a lot too and he seemed to do well.

Must have been over 50% so FO % should have been overall high.

Uh, we were in the lower middle third of the pack in faceoffs on the PP, so nothing outrageous, and Norris barely took PP faceoffs, it was Brady taking them almost exclusively. Norris took about one a game.

The good news is no more Tierney or Paul on the PP. No more Brown, Sanford, Ennis or white either. Those guys were basically our 2nd unit or first to go onto the primary unit as an injury sub, and none really belong on a PP aside from maybe Brown on a 2nd unit, that's where we should see some improvements imo.

How dare you - White came back and was an instant boost to the PP. Don't disparage his good PP name!

66% of his scoring and 70% of his points came from the PP last year … hopefully we can find those 2 goals elsewhere this year.

JimJim and The Cat have their work cutout for them.

I hope Stutzle has been practicing his face-offs in the off-season. It should be on his "to do" list.

Stu playing Center this entire season, with a player that is a LW that can play center is ideal...As Iam still convinced Pinto will become our 2nd line center, having two stud,s that can win draws on a top 6 line is always better than one

Ya, that will be fun. We'll actually have a PP2 this year.

That second PP unit was just awful to watch. Pathetic.

Hyped for this kid. Crazy to thing he already achieved PPG status for 1/3 of the season as a 20 year old playing with Brown and Formenton.
Having that pace when Ottawa was well out of playoff contention doesn't mean much. Now if he maintains that pace over the course of the season, and Ottawa is competitive, then I'll be impressed.
