You've said this a few times now and honestly it makes no sense. A potential 40-50 goal scorer is not the easiest player to replace, that's asinine. Do you have a bias against him because of his size even though he's shown to be a very physical player? Honest question, because I'm struggling to think of another reason you'd want to replace what could be one piece of a top line for us.
Ya, he has been one of the top scorers in the league since he arrived in the NHL. Those players are, by far, the most difficult to replace.

Did you say the same things about Regin and Lehner? Hmmmmm

;)
I agree with others that it's weird to dunk on a guy for being bullish on Lehner.

Has had some excellent seasons and some impaired by mental health issues and injuries.

Setting an unrealistic bar for player projections if you can't count Lehner as a win.

Im really not dunking on anyone though... I was kidding.

But Lehner was not very good for us. He was not a "win" unless you consider that he was traded to another team (Buffalo) for a high value pick in the 1st round of 2015. And he was absolutely terrible for them as well. The fist half of Lehner's career is not at all a success story.

So if Im setting my bar too high by hoping that it doesnt take 5-10 years and multiple teams for a prospect to become a good NHL player - then I guess Ill deal with the disappointment when it doesnt happen that way...

You're conflating so many different things here.

If you draft Gretzky then trade him for a tim Hortons gift card, you made a good draft pick and a bad trade.

Tim Thomas and Hasek didn't become success stories till late in their career. Would it be a miss to say hasek will be good when he was 20 even if it wasnt with the blackhawks?

Your last point is irrelevant I think. When you're assessing a prospect you're looking at the player, not whether hell be traded by his 4th GM.

No offense, but your taking this way too seriously. My comment was a joke. And my point still stands that in the user handle Regin-Kalrsson-Lehner - only one of those names makes me smile. The other two dont do anything for me. Sue me I guess :dunno:

I see you said it was a joke. Then a bunch of other stuff walking that back. Guess you're a moving target, kind of like lehner's career.

Jimmy is going for 40 goals this year...:highclap:

The potential line of
Debrincat (35 goals) - Stutzle (40 goals) - Giroux (75 Assists)

I think he gets close to 30. DeBrincat cracks 40 and Giroux around 25. Would be a hell of a successful line if that pans out. Expecting Tkachuk around 30, Norris around 35 and Batherson around 25.
Going to be an interesting season. Anyone of Tkachuk, Norris, Batherson, DeBrincat, or Stutzle could lead this team in goals and points.

I guess Giroux as well but that seems pretty unlikely at this point in his career.

We just acquired two in the off season, the NYI could gain one if Kadri signs there, Calgary swapped one with Florida & Columbus got one, it happens all the time, they are easy to get. Good goaltenders, top 4 defencemen on the other hand are a little harder although also not impossible. Of course, they also have to play to their potential when they get there. IMO getting a top 4 defencemen or legitimate #1 goaltender is more important than having DeBrindcat, with the forwards we have & coming they could offset with collective scoring IMO.

Speaking of cherry picking...

How many 45 goal scorers were traded/moved the year before or the year before that?

Scoring goals is without an argument the most difficult thing to do in the NHL and top end scorers are rarely moved.

No need to defend it, just doesn't happen much.

Which is why they should be locking him up now and saying Brady is the teams internal cap. Use the Jack Hughes contract, offer 8 x 8.1
Don’t worry about it. Tkachuk is a great captain and will make sure no one gets more than 8.2 mil

Kadri is not a 40-50 goalscorer. Neither is Giroux since I think you're implying that at the start of your post? Calgary got a 115 point player by trading their younger 100+ point player. Columbus lucked into Gaudreau because of Calgary's unwillingness to trade him the year before for an absolute haul.

You're allowed to have an opinion, but you're most definitely going to be in the minority on this one when it comes to Debrincat. He is far from the easiest player on our roster to replace.

Would of preferred a summer of training with Gary Robert’s instead of a summer training in Mykonos but hopefully it worked well for him.

I honestly don't know how well this line works when I think about it. Who is going to go get the puck... They're all great players but you need a worker on a line like this. Debrincat doesnt need the puck to be effective but I do wonder how well this line will be able to sustain pressure in the offensive zone. Do you switch Brady and Giroux? Or Giroux and Norris? Giroux and Batherson?

Yeah I mean, we don't really know what he did before hand. At least he is doing some training while he is on vacation.

It’s a contract year for a highly competitive young athlete. He looks bigger and I’d have zero issues worrying about him coming in prepared.
