I think he's implying Stu was #2 on the Sens' list

I don't think so.

I remember a poster here bringing up that the Jeopardy draft pick was kind of catered to Byfield because he played for the Sudbury wolves at the time and Alex Trebek the host of the show had Sudbury roots so it was going to be like a different question rather than "Who are the sens gonna draft with this pick" and was likely going to be something Sudbury related leading to Byfield being called up.

Considering the size fetish we've had the last couple drafts, I think it's pretty likely we had Byfield 2nd on our list.

.I promise you we had Timmy #2

I mean.. that could be possible. Maybe they were convinced LA wouldn't pass on Stützle.

Didn't Eugene say his partner thought of the idea? I think that's putting a little too much thought into why.

Garrioch pretty heavily implied that the Sens were going with Timmy.

Different drafts - not sure I understand?

In general though having Miller over JBD would be a net positive.

Different drafts yes. But if the Sens chose Miller in 2018, they'd probably be inclined to choose a RHD in 2020. Whether or not Sanderson or Drysdale is better, I think we can all agree Miller-Drysdale is better than Sanderson-JBD.

Maybe. We will see in 3-4 years.

That's just an insane amount of highlights.

Anybody who's seen most of Tim's games since the WJC, and the progression year to year... I mean, it's so hard to temper expectations. He does things that very few players can do. He might completely explode this year and I'll be going to as many games I can to see it in action

Pierre was very open about getting one of the three top forwards in the draft with pick # 3 don’t think Sando was in their top 3

Yeah. But listening to interviews back then I thought it was interesting how they were basically gushing over Stutzle and offered praise but more muted praise of Byfield. I remember listening to one interview on tsn 1200 (I think) where I was like "do they not know how clearly it sounds like they prefer one player over the other...". They were like Stutzle is electric and Byfield is big.

I don’t know about that. Sanderson is likely the best d out of that group. He’s the guy I want. So the rest can work itself out. Not that those players come tied together anyway.

If you remember the WJC, Stuetzle looked simply like he didn't belong. In my view he was by far the best player in that tournament. I started asking myself how long will it take for him to look like that in the NHL? Where he is by far the best skater in the game night in and night out. I think we saw definite flashes of it the back half of last season. With a little more strength in his lower body, he's going to look night in and night out like he looked in that WJC. Best skater in the game, taking the puck end to end at will

I also remember him looking ridiculously good on the PK in that tournament which excited me because I realized he had the potential to be an all around elite player. Wouldn’t mind seeing him get some PK time this year.
