Interesting that DJ asked Stuetzle if he wanted to move to centre to open the season and Timmy said not yet. Another example that DJ knows where his players will succeed
I don't view that that way at all.

I see a coach asking a young developing superstar what he feels he is ready for. I think with some players you simply tell them, with others, you need to seek their opinion

It's also I'd say old school versus new school

It just confirms DJ was planning a move to centre eventually

any word on him playing at the IIHF WC? Haven't heard anything, there is news about Seider going but I can't find anything about Stutzle. Would be nice to see him there but maybe he skips if he still has anything lingering from that injury.

He is going. He confirmed it at the end of season availability.

He actually played today in a 3-1 German victory in a pre tournament game against Austria.
Didn’t record any points however.

I wasn’t able to catch the game unfortunately so i’m unable to provide anymore information than that.

Here are some highlights with German commentary (hopefully not geoblocked).
Timmy can be seen a few times, setting up chances.

If it is still available tomorrow on my "Magenta Sport" subscription I may watch the whole thing.

I just fnished watching yesterday's game Germany vs Austria.
As far as Stützle is concerned I thought he played ok, if I apply the same standard for all the players.
Based on my expectations from him, he was a little disappointing.

But once you take into account that he only had one practice with the team, I can't really fault him too much, especially since he did show some flashes of his extraordinary skill.
He had a good number of "almost" plays that only just didn't work out, either because his linemates did not anticipate his plays, or because his timing was just a bit off, or because the puck took a weird bounce on a less than ideal ice surface. He had this one move were he toe dragged between his legs around a defender and in one motion tried to kick the puck onto his stick, but the kick was just a little too far head or you could say the defender was able to impede him enough so could not reach the puck.

Not sure if his reputation has carried over back here to Europe, or if he did something in the game to piss off the Austrians (or at least one of them), but towards the end one Austrian player started to give him some extra slashes/taps away from the play, which lead to a scrum near the benches.
They did not really show the whole thing, so I don't know if Timmy was at fault for anything, but this kind of stuff sure happens a lot when he is around. Korbinian Holzer then got involved on his behalf and Germany ended up on the pk, but it was good to see that they will not allow anyone to take liberties with Timmy.

Stützle aside, I really like this Kasper kid for Austria. He did not really create a ton of offense, but I liked his attitude and he seems to have a great personality to go along with loads of skill. He liked to get involved in the physical stuff. I guess some won't like him doing that while wearing a cage, but the way he did it, I think it was just to demonstrate that he won't back down and that included one 4-way altercation that involved Mo Seider, which was very funny. And the ref gave Kasper a little talking to afterwards, that looked like a dad telling his son not to be so reckless.

I am really rooting for Kasper to become a superstar in the NHL. In some ways he reminds me a little bit of Stützle in the way that he also seems to enjoy the physicality and just appears to have so much fun out there. So, I am not talking about their skill or playing style being similar, but more like their personality and approach to the game.
But since this just based of seeing Kasper once, I may be completely off.

Strange, he should have the 2nd assist on the 2-1 goal.
No, he shouldn't. While they got the 2nd assist wrong (Karachun had the 3rd assist not the 2nd). It was Wagner (#38), not Stützle (#18) who passed the puck to Hüttl (#47), who then passed it to the goalscorer Loibl (#15).
Stützle was not even on the ice for the play. The forwards on the ice were Loibl, Wohlgemuth and Karachun and the defensemen were Wagner and Hüttl.

My mistake, i don't know why i thought it was him... He had an ok game, the team itself was sloppy / very average.
