I'm happy with Stu's development. Same point production as last year but finally playing centre with meh linemates with significant strides in his defensive game. I expect next year for him to have a leap in points and he still has a legit chance to be our best offensive forward since Spezza
He really needs to focus on strength, it’s the obvious missing piece.

Said this in the game thread but I'll repeat it here: his positioning and situational awareness in the defensive zone is night and day from last year. Very promising.
I think he “feels” the play better at centre. His defensive play at centre is just get low, hunt the puck and be available for the quick outlet. At wing he looked disengaged

I'm not too fixated on point totals yet. I'm seeing relatively good things from him and if you pair him with the right linemates, his numbers will increase.

really is a shame Alfredsson isn't in there talking and coaching these kids. Doesn't he live like 15 mins away from the rink too?

Alfredsson teaching Stutzle, Chabot, Tkachuk, Norris etc is the actual mentorship we need. not Del Zotto and Stepan.
I still think it's in the realm of possibility, even with Melnyk as owner. It would be awesome to say the least.

Havlat was in his d+3 season when he did that. Alfie was what? 24? 25?
The question brought up was sophomore season, Stone who was in the comparison was D+5 I think, Hossa D+3. Spezza D+3.

It's a weird stat because guys like Yashin and Daigle would have passed 50 if they'd played full seasons and had already done so in their rookie seasons.

I’m laying down the line for Stutzle point totals this season. Current 13 and 20. 26 games left.
Goals 20
Assist 35

Give me your Over/Under for each.

Uh, Alfredsson had 71 his sophomore year, havlat had 50 in 72 games,
Alfredsson was 24, Havlat was 21. Not saying Stutzle will be as good as Alfredsson but I do expect a better career than Havlat. Stutzle just turned 20 in January.

Shit my bad, still elite company.
Stutzle is doing it faster than anyone not named Daigle when you look at birth year. Yashins rookie year as a 19/20 year old like Stutzle was far more impressive however. Spezza scored at a similar pace in his 19/20 year old year.

Either way he is in real good company. Once Stutzle gets stronger and a bit more explosive he is going to be a star.

Stutzle will be better than Alfie was at 25. You heard it here, first!
Alfie is a very unique player when you look at his development curve. Really hard to compare anyone to him. Stutzle should be compared to Yashin, Hossa, Spezza, Daigle and Havlat as they all broke in young. A player like Batherson is a good comparable to Alfie from a development stand point. I think he still has much more improvment in his game they could both have similar dominance into their late 20's where they continue to improve and dont hit their prime as fast.

It is the quality of competition that he is facing this year that should put his points into perspective. Last night, for example, that is a big tough team with a lot of grinding. The kid didn't shy away and played brilliantly. And that is with Gaudette on his wing.

The sophomore season can be a very difficult adjustment, but happy to see Norris and Stutzle continue to prove that they are legit top 6 players
