Missed the last few games. Sounds like the top line's becoming Tkachuk - Norris - Joseph/Batherson.
How's our second line of what sounds like Formenton - Stutzle - Batherson/Brown (50/50 minutes over last two games) been looking?
IMO Batherson is not quite back in the flow but he is getting there. Stu keeps being active and his speed and skill remain apparent. Still I believe it has not really clicked for him yet. Can‘t really rush it and being on track for 50+x till then is quite the accomplishment. Good things to come.

I think a great example of the bolded was today when he sliced through the NZ, made a move on the last defender but just loses control right around the net and ends up stepping on the puck and crashing into the boards. He is just missing that final touch. As long as he keeps creating those opportunities he should develop that ability to execute. His potential is immense, could become a game breaking talent relatively soon.

I think a key piece to remember as well is just how damn young Timmy is. He will he starting his 3rd NHL season next year at the age of 20. At the same age, Hossa put up 30 pts in 60 for .5 pts/g where as Stützle is at .63pts/g.
Now, I know their usage isn't the same but Hossa was also on a team that finished with 100+ points and Timmy is on a basement dweller. I can't even imagine how good this kid is gonna be 4 or 5 years from now

Best hands out of any Ottawa Senator ever?

It's hilarious to watch him bait players into coming for him only to stickhandle and spin into free ice. Karlsson was good at this too but Stutzle does it with even more flair.

Jury still out on this. I think Havlat was more slick and smooth with his stickhandle

Timmy's offensive numbers are improving.
So far in the 2nd half of the season Timmy has 23 points in 29 games for a P/GP average of 0.79 (0.7931).
Could/should go up with Batherson on his wing.

I am loving his compete and his fire.

He showed it before but I can just picture him in a couple of years, during a playoff match going beast mode and taking over a game in all facets.

It seems so far off but when I think of Pinto and Greig added to our forward corps we add more speed, grit, skill to our top 9 and then Kelly / Kastelic / ? on the 4th line it rounds out pretty well.

I think Spezza is #1 but Timmy is a close second

Alexei Kovalev has the best hands of any Senator ever. Everyone else is fighting for #2
Must disagree there.

Everything that goes into quick and smooth hands declines as you age, and we got Kovalev on the downswing.

Also, I always thought the "woulda coulda shoulda" legends about him were pretty lame. Ya, he had great skill, but who cares if you don't take advantage of it. I'll take the guy who actually did by setting up and scoring many of the nicest goals in team history, Spezza. Nonetheless, Kovalev is still up there.

I see 4 guys in the bottom six to be replaced, and Formenton should’ve on a third line.

I’ll tell you what, I miss wrecking ball Kelly on that fourth line. That guy is a missile.
I see five! Retain C. Brown and ditch White, Gaudette, Tierney, Gambrell and Watson.

However, White and Watson have NHL contracts for next season so they will likely still be on the team.

Agree with this take. Spezza has fanciest hands in sens history for sure. Havlat gets an honorable mention. For best hands I might nominate Alfredsson, ive never seen a player capable of taking a bad pass like him. Literally no bad passes, he was a vacuum. He could also protect the puck incredibly well as did Hossa. In terms of pure dangling Spezza then Havlat. Stutzle is going to give them both a run for their money.

I still want a big tough physical policeman on the roster. :)

Stutzle is still developing. His quickness and puck control could be seen only in the last 20 years in the league in young Crosby. He will get even better in this department. It is just Tim has to slow down his game in OZ and be more unpredictable. He is already making plays and connects with passes in OZ 90% of the time and does not make anymore low percentage plays. But he can still do better with his smarts, when his partners will only have an open net to shoot in, or work himself into a slot for a kill.

A lot of people talk about his skill, speed, hands etc...

But Stutzle's most defining characteristic is his competitiveness. There's always an extra chip on his shoulder whenever the stakes are more personal for him such as playing against fellow countrymen, or playing against other highly coveted top prospects/young players.

He wants the puck on his stick. He wants to make a difference; wants to be that guy, and not only win, but dominate. Mackinnon vibes, without the military persona.

100% agree. It was something i quickly noticed when doing armchair scouting pre draft and one of the reasons i had him rated ahead of Byfield.

Like you said his drive, his passion, his desire to win and be the best.

Man we have a gem here.
