There is 0 guarantee that this will happen. Stutzle's body of work so far does not point in that direction. He's on pace for another 40ish points this year? Certainly does not scream future superstar in anyway..
Not really the best take IMO. 40 point pace doesn't take into account the improved production at centre. I get that you for some strange reason you don't like #18 but it's really weird.

I'm a little more conservative on my prospect readiness assessment.

Sokolov - another year in the AHL with the goal of top 9 forward in 2023/24

Greig - next year in Belleville

Thomson/JBD - winner takes bottom pair on right side eventually replacing Zaitsev.

Kleven - next year UND followed by a year in Belleville

Jarventie - next year in Belleville, maybe some of 2023/24 as well.

Boucher - next year with the 67s followed by at least half a season in the AHL, probably a full season.

Agreed on all fronts. I want another full season of JBD in AHL. Thomson, imo, is being groomed to stay up for good starting next year. I want to see Sokolov above PPG. Needs to work on that skating. Ideally he comes up after trade deadline next year.

I want to see:

Jarventie-Greig-Sokolov to start next year.

With the emergence of Josh Norris the Sens should really consider trading Stützle for a defensive upgrade.. Can't see where Stützle truly fits on this offense once Pinto is back.
I never post on here, but this right here would absolutely be idiotic if Ottawa did this. Sens need more skilled forwards, not less. Shake your head in shame.

Someone actually said they would trade Stutzle? Dude is barely 20! He's a kid. He's going to be great, let him develop please.

You add in Giroux or someone of that ilk and we are legit looking at playoffs. Sanderson on the back-end and perhaps a solid stop gap and we are the surprise of the East.

This off-season is monstrous for us. Draft included. Btw, Gambrell is centring the line with Watson RW. Aside from that, depth throughout, baby.

I know pinto may be unlikely able to handle it but if needed(no acquisitions) then I’d like to see something like this for a bit,

Tkachuk-Pinto-Batherson
Formenton-Stutzle-Norris
Paul-White-Brown
Sanford-Kastelic/Gambrell-Gaudette

I said in another thread if the team sees Stu as a permanent center (clean up faceoffs and I wholly agree) then they will likely target Slafkovsky in this upcoming draft, big, heavy winger with skill.

Brady - Norris - Batherson

Slafkovsky - Stutzle - Giroux

Formenton - Pinto - Brown

Paul - Gaudette - Sanford

X- Gambrell, Watson

Chabot - Zub

Sanderson - Manson

Brannstrom - Holden

X- Zaitsev

the only question I have is goaltending... but with a significantly better D, and significantly better forward core leading to better D from the forwards? I think Murray - Gustavsson could have a good year!

Stutzle succeeding at center is one of the best developments of this season.

Stutzle-Norris-Pinto could develop into one of the best top 3 center groups in the league in 3-5 years.

It really is. Possibly the biggest positive revelation of the season. He looks good in his own end as well. He can exit the zone with a pass or skating it out himself, and is getting more comfortable carrying the puck through the middle.

His ability for controlled zone exits and entries from the centre position will be huge. Something that is needed for the sens to develop into a team that has more puck possession.

Stützle has 47 points in 85 games played, which is 0.55 ppg overall. He is at about 0.8 ppg since playing center.

There are only 5 players from the last three draft classes that are right now at a better overall ppg: Moritz Seider at 0.61 ppg, Trevor Zegras at 0.68 ppg, Lucas Raymond at 0.8 ppg, Anton Lundell at 0.64 ppg, Seth Jarvis at 0.6 ppg.
And none that are better than his ppg since playing center, he is only tied with Lucas Raymond.

Let us break this down a little:

Moritz Seider and Trevor Zegras are both a year older than Tim. Zegras is also playing for a playoff-team with very good line mates, still not challenging Tim's current center-pace.

Lucas Raymond has spent all of his games on a line with Bertuzzi and Larkin who last year already formed the eight best line in the NHL with Vrana. Raymond never had to deal with linemates of Tim's (non-)quality, still not outscoring him.

Lundell and Jarvis play for the arguably best teams in the NHL right now.

His ppg since playing center is a little misleading.
He had similar stretches of those ppg numbers at wing iirc.

Mostly early in his first year, but hasn't had a similar 16 game stretch since last season. Either way, him playing a responsible 2 way game while maintaining production is a big positive. He's also doing it without Batherson, Norris or Tkachuk on his line where as a lot of his production last year came playing with Batherson.

Stu definitely needs more play strength but the biggest thing for him would just be more assertiveness and decisiveness. Both these are often related to confidence but he often just needs to bear down, realize he’s the guy and the Sens need him to make the plays. Too much thinking and second guessing going on in his game. So many times he receives a pass and takes too long to try to settle the puck or pick his spot. It gives goalies the time to get into position and kills the opportunity. He also often fails to recognize his shooting lane in scoring positions. Stutzle with the puck between the circles and an open lane is the type of opportunity teams work to get, you don’t need to try to improve on that, wire it kid.

It also applies with puck battles, sometimes it looks like he gives up the battle before he gives himself a chance to win it. A bit more strength and confidence might help him recognize he might not be able to overpower guys but he’s more skilled than the vast majority of his opponents and he can win far more of his battles than he does now.

That will be a big question for next season, which one between Stutzle & Pinto will be the 2nd line centre? If it's Stutzle they could put Pinto on RW & Formenton on LW & that would make for a pretty good 2nd line. Or they could do what they did before & have Stutzle on LW, Pino at centre & C. Brown on RW who can produce 2nd line numbers. Pinto could certainly help Stutzle with faceoffs & defensive help. And let's not forget thet Colin White will still be around for next season unless they trade him which seems unlikely since he's injury prone & has hardly played since he has been here.

I also don't think Sokolov needs another yr in Belleville, he has had two good yrs there & while he is not the fastest skater he gets where he needs to go & he produces when he does. Formenton has really come into his own this yr & is showing that he could be a very good productive top six player. Anyone else think that JBD is auditioning to play with Chabot full time next season?

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Formenton - Stutzle - Pinto
Paul - White - C. Brown
Sokolov - Kastelic - Watson/Bishop

Chabot - JBD
Sanderson - Zub
Brannstrom - Zaitsev
MDZ - Thomson

Murray - Gustavsson/Sogaard
