I agree - but I do think that Stutzle is a very clear notch above Norris in terms of caliber. Stutzle might end up being the best center we've ever developed before.

I love Spezza on so many levels, and his talent is second to none in this organizations past or present. But everything we complained about with his game are literally strengths of Stutzles - elite skating, willingness to shoot, high compete level, dependable in all situations - Spezza would have been Lemieux 2.0 if he wasn't so questionable in all of those other areas.
Say what? Please tell me you are talking about Claude Lemieux!?

Barring injury, a lock for 30+ goals and over PPG while having already missed some games

He’s doing this at 21 while passing up so many shooting opportunities to set up his teammates. It’s hard imagining him not hitting 40 goals in the near future if he starts being just a bit less selfish ala Alfie. He’s such a threat and if he improves his shot just a little bit, the NHL will be a joke to him

Ever since we all watched him absolutely dominate the WJC in December before the covid season we all knew he was special, but this is just insane. It’s hard to compare him to current or past elite players because he has such a unique skillset and his compete and desire to improve is just on another level

Losing Norris was tough and lost us a bunch of points in the standings but accelerating Timmy’s development is a major silver lining…

I was watching the Rags game as best I could on my phone today and what stood out to me again is how physical he was.

He put himself out there and got knocked down sometimes but let the Rangers D know he was there. The 🔥 this kid plays with burns hot and you know he will be even thicker next year.

He is almost the total package already but imagine him with a more dangerous shot, more experience so game slows down allowing him to execute passes more consistently AND getting bigger and more physical?

Dude is adding some Peter Forsberg edge to his game and will be one of the more dangerous PKers in the league.

What an absolute gem we have and he isn’t close to polished yet!

When I watched that WJC, I knew the kid would never see a day in the AHL. I'm not sure I'd ever seen someone at that event separate himself from the entire tournament in terms of skating

Here we are a few years later and he's separating himself from 95% of the NHL. Night after night he's the best skater in the game and most nights it's AINEC

Freaking incredible to watch.

Kid is in elite company since Jan. 1st. T3 in goals + T1 in even strength goals.

He could hit 40 this year. He's also been put on the PK, so he's making other contributions besides scoring. He's still young, so he still has room to grow.

Would like to say thank you Sharks for not only giving us the 1st round pick, but also finishing 3rd overall.

Would the Sens have still chosen Stutzle if that pick won 1st or 2nd overall?

At second yes they would have, was the thought at the time.
I also had Stu at #2. Even though I did flip flopp on that , months before the draft.

SJ got third overall because they got the last lottery pick. If they don’t win the lottery, the pick was behind the Sens at 5th.

Since Jan. 1, Timmy has 35 points in 26 games for 1.35 P/GP.
If he maintains that pace for the final 20 games, he'll add 27 points to the 66 he currently has for a total of 93 points in 78 games.
( That's equivalent to 98 points in 82 games.)

Stu give away on the PK isn't really a big deal especially in a regular season game.

I would not discourage him from trying to that. That is who he is and stick to his natural instinct

As a coach, what shouldn't be tolerated is lazy defensive efforts and blatant dumb giveaways (ala Batherson)

Maybe if we’re pushing for a goal, but I’d want him normally to get the puck out if there is even the slightest chance that someone is behind him.

I agree with the second part.

Its not a play you should be making on the penalty kill. Its not a big deal just a learning curve.

And he scored 19 goals in those 26 games for 0.73 G/GP which computes to 60 goals in 82 games.

Very impressed by his goal scoring this season. I thought of him more as a playmaker who could score, but his finishing has been fantastic. A bit more Bure than Forsberg. If he can dial in a one-timer he could add to those totals.

Playing with two different types of playmakers in Giroux and Chucky helps for sure.
