Rumour has it that Chipman is pushing hard to get the Jets moved to the Atlantic division next season. :sarcasm:
I miss the ol Canadian division during the Covid year. That was stellar. I really enjoy watching games far more vs Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, etc.
something to be said about the old smyth div and Canadian rivalries. I enjoyed watching us play Canadian teams over St. Louis and Phoenix. I get it, travel. But suck it up and make it happen again.

Seat widths here are the tightest in the league. 17 inches for standard seats vs. 19 inches almost everywhere else including Edmonton. Club seats here are 19 inches vs. 21 inches almost everywhere else including Edmonton. I have also read that suite seats in some (or most?) places are 22 inches. Ours are 19 inches.

Outside of maybe Calgary we that the most cramped lower bowl seats in the NHL.

Damn that is a significant increase. I wonder if the previous price they paid was locked in for several years, hence the huge increase.

Source?

I'm unsure how a team can average more than 100% capacity for attendance.
Outdoor games? Nearly 50,000 at the Winter Classic in Seattle last month. Also "official capacity" as far as HockeyDB knows might differ from the actual capacity...the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul is officially 17,954 but I've seen different numbers (e.g. this PDF from the arena's own site says it's 18,300).

I'm not sure why percentage capacity matters. Both Buffalo and San Jose are selling significantly more tickets per game, as is every other tanking sunbelt market other than Pheonix. Pheonix would probably sell more than the Jets too if they had a bigger arena.

This is shameful. They should just move the team already.

Capacity doesn’t even really matter. Ticket revenue would be more applicable
I can't find a source for that information.

I do find this - albeit 3 years old - is the most "current" info that I can find. Average ticket prices (in USD) for all NHL teams.
If you want to multiply the average ticket price X number of fans which have attended - you could likely figure out the approximate ticket revenues for each team year to date? Then divide that by number of home games played to see the ticket revenue per game.

For example:

Toronto - $128.69 X 432,221 = $55,622,520 / 23 games = $2,418,370 per game **Highest average ticket price
Winnipeg - $71.32 X 323,015 = $23,037,430 / 25 games = $921,497 per game ** GO JETS GO
Florida - $37.19 X 442,444 = $16,454,492 / 24 games = $685,604 per game **Lowest average ticket price
Calgary - $56.66 X 419,460 = $23,766,604 / 24 games = $990,275 per game **Similar Canadian city
Ottawa - $59.21 X 444,529 = $26,320,620 / 25 games = $1,02,825 per game **Similar Canadian city
Vegas - $104.36 X 471,116 = $49,165,666 / 26 games = $1,890,987 per game **F*ck Vegas

I'm curious as to how average ticket prices are calculated. Do people creating these charts know at least roughly how many seats are in each seating category? Because, for instance, if 99 sections at a random arena are $200 a ticket and the one remaining section is $50, that doesn't mean the average team ticket price is $125, but I suspect that would be the conclusion.

The figure has to be weighted to inventory and I've never seen any indication that it is whenever I see these types of average ticket price lists.

Yeah just looking at the upper bowl season ticket prices the average I get is $78.44 per game. Of course that's only $58.24 USD at current exchange rates. But the lower bowl is about 60% of seating in the arena. I'd imagine with suites, loge and lower bowl combined it must average 2x the upper bowl. Ballpark arena average would be $125 CAD = $93 USD average...and that might be a bit low.

Looks like Arizona at 100% is indicative of a hot market. Glendale and Scottsdale could both use teams so let’s move all the teams below 100% capacity starting with Montreal and toronto

It's so bogus to list attendance without gross revenue included - like 1/4 of the seats in most cities are $15-20USD... is that offset by box seats? Just would be nice to know

Great to see Arizona at 100% capacity though... maybe there's still hope hahaha

I'll assume unless told otherwise that you are referring to the limited information that gets released to the public by the league as being bogus - and not me being bogus for sharing this information? Because that is how I first read the comment and raised an eyebrow....but since this is the attendance discussion thread, assume not upset with me for sharing what is available.

There's hope. About a 90 minute flight north.

Does anyone know what takes place at the Jets meet and greet on Monday night? Other than having 4 tickets to the event and starting at 5pm that’s about all I know.
Can we bring our own items to be signed by the players?
Is food and drink available? Important things when the event starts at 5 and you have kids.

Kudos to the Jets for holding specific events for STH. I don’t ever recall a team meet and greet.

No autographs unless you won access to the VIP room. Don't know about food and drink.

Agreed that it's great that the Jets are finally having some real benefits for us STH's but I'm worried that it's too little too late. They should have been doing things like this from day one.

Average ticket prices are notoriously unreliable. More than a decade ago there was a poster on the Business board with a username that started with kdb that had a detailed rundown of why reported average ticket prices were wildly inaccurate. It's been awhile, but I believe factors like season ticket prices versus single game prices (and further breakdown in single game prices between premium A, B and C games), number of free tickets allocated and number of tickets given to corporate sponsors (do you count those as free tickets thereby dropping the average ticket price?) resulted in a skewed overall ticket price. That's as best as I can remember it.

They lost about 3 or 4k sth didn't they? Including myself, so yes, too late for those guys. That being said, I'm optimistic that TNSE will be able to rebuild that base
