BTW Cleveland only scored 4 runs these past two games, there is still a chance we may win this series if our hitters wake up again. Pitching is on our side (maybe not so much for game 5 tho).

Pitching most definitely has been the difference.... And Lindor.

Jays look intimidated, and Francona knows it. They just gotta play with more confidence. I don't see that from them.

Yeah pretty sure Saunders only has hits or strikeouts in these playoffs. But he's been useless for the past three months so not much more you can expect.

Honestly I'm in favour of changing stuff up a bit tonight

Bautista 0, Donaldson 5, Encarnacion 3, Tulowitzki 6, Martin 2, Upton 7, Carrera 9, Pillar 8, Goins 4

I would be happy with that lineup, or keep Saunders in for Upton. Just get the big bats to the top of the lineup.

How can that not intimidate you?

I wouldn't say intimidated, it's more about exposing the Jays weakness, which is throwing soft stuff. When the jays were struggling in the last month of the season, they were getting a ton of curveballs and sliders, which they struggle badly to hit. Tomlin threw nearly 50% curveballs the other night, a ridiculous number for any pitcher, especially him.

Personally I do not see anything wrong with the name or logo, its cartoony but I guess this is 2016..oh well.

I have a really hard time believing anyone can look at Chief Wahoo and not understand how it's racist.

I don't how people can defend Chief Wahoo.

Heard the Blair and Brunt show on the Fan driving into work this morning.

They had a former ump and current ump advocate on...can't recall his name.

He said that back when he was umping, guys like Bautista would be taught a lesson, but unfortunately with the TV showing the strikebox, that's much harder to do nowadays...

He also wondered who taught Bautista the "elements and circumstances" phrase, because he wasn't smart enough to come up with that one on his own.

He also mentioned that Bautista has no right to comment since he's been swinging at pitches out of the zone this off-season. He mentioned that if a guy like Russ Martin complained to the ump in a respectful manner, the umps might be much more receptive to the message.

I thought that call was an excellent glimpse into the psyche of the umps, right from the horse's mouth.

:help:

Bautista may be a hothead, but he's still regarded as an intelligent player.

Also, the hate for the Jays has increased tenfold. Oh well, lol.

JB is very intelligent.

That's what makes that statement by the ex-mlb ump supervisor so telling; his dislike of Bautista supersedes rational thought and exposes the existing prejudice against him.

There are different things you can nitpick about both pitchers. Truth is, they both were just as good this season

Osuna gets into trouble because he gives up more hits than Allen and he doesn't have the strikeout ability that Allen has once they get on base

Osuna is actually legitimately more effective with runners on base. I'd say that's the biggest difference aside from control.

Cleveland hasn't encountered even half the excuses the Jays have had to put up with, and this was during a time when the Jays were trash too.

I have a hard time understanding why someone would care about a logo on a hat. Do you lose sleep over it?

That's kind of the point. It's just a logo on a hat, so why not change it to something other than a stereotypical caricature of an entire race?

Can you imagine the outrage if you replace the red with black?

These things take a long time it took forever for Syracuse Orangemen to be changed to the Syracuse Orange and why North Dakota Fighting Sioux got changed to the North Dakota Sioux.

They do, yes. And that doesn't mean people who feel they are directly impacted by the name or logo shouldn't be able to take advantage of a high-profile situation like this to try to speed up that process.

I just saw an alert on Sportsnet ticker at the bottom of the screen. It said something about Gibbons and Sanchez talking with the media at 4:30et. Anyone know what this could be about? I find it odd that Sanchez would speak too.

In the playoffs, pitchers always talk to the media the day before a scheduled start.

What the guy is asking is almost impossible to enforce. I understand what he's trying to achieve, I don't agree with the logo or name either but he's asking the impossible right now. There is no way for Rogers to not air the logo, and no way for them to keep it out of the building today. The feed is no even controlled by Rogers.

That being said the Lawyers are slimy with thier defense by saying things like 'Art is protected by freedom of speech, therefore it is not racisit' "The court uses and the activist uses the term as well therefore Cleveland shoudl get to use it"

However the activist who brought this charge in didn't so anything until Friday and is in China right now. The Toronto Star has someone live tweeting the hearing:

https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2016/10/17/cleveland-team-faces-court-challenge-over-name-logo.html

Lawyer: 'Indian' is not derogatory. It speaks to a heritage. Supreme Court uses Indian. References Vancouver Canucks, Montreal Habitants

Looking at our 5-9 hitters does shake one's confidence in our ability to come back in this series.

The issue is some times that hurts the cause more then helps it.
