There was a discount at NHL shop so decided to order other stuff ive been thinking about purchasing lately. Im happy with this. The Haula jersey wouldve been nice but it would have cost over $300 alone and he is probably gone-away after the season anyway. Pikkuhousut on the thermal cup means (female) panties, in case you wanted to know.

Thank you. Sincerely.
Right now it hurts but there is always a door that will open. You will move on from this. If you ever want to chat just send a direct message or conversation message or whatever they call it. Be well. Do not feel any remorse. You gave them a hell of a lot more than they ever gave you. They don't deserve you.

After almost 23 years with the same company I got laid off today...

I have mixed emotions.

Part of me feels defeated and sad. Another part of me is over the moon with my new life that starts soon.

I'm probably going to sell my place and move out West soon or not move anywhere and just drift for a while.

Anyway in the next month I'll probably disappear for a good long while. So if you don't see me around there is nothing wrong and it's definitely not because I don't love you all.

Damn Jim, that sucks. I hope everything works out well for you and you're able to bounce back from this sudden change in your situation.

Sorry to hear that Jim. When times are tough I’ve learned to try to focus on turning the negative into a positive. Sudden change isn’t easy but it sounds like you have a plan.

I was speaking to my wife about heading out west soon... she's like it's winter... What do you think about going down to SW Florida to help with the clean up for the next few months.

I think I like it.

I don't know what I'm doing. It's all so fresh and sudden. But the idea of spending the next couple of months helping out is appealing to me.

If you are the type where helping those in need would give you a lift, the people of SW FL could use your help for sure. We signed up for “yard cleanup” 6 days after when we could get back and they told us we were #7,100 or so on the list.

Wow. 7100?!

Yeah that definitely would give me a lift. I have a few friends in the general area and I like the idea of possibly spending the time helping out.
I have a chainsaw so I assume I can be somewhat useful:)

The 4 days in a row I was out all day this past long weekend before going back to work for the first time since the hurricane, I would hear chainsaws all around the neighborhood from 7am till after I stopped around 4:30. It was strangely soothing, I guess knowing we weren’t alone in the recovery. Other people I’ve noticed aren’t cleaning up anything and just leaving trees fallen over in their yards.

Oh man, condolences Jim. Excited for you for the new chapter, but I can empathize with how that feels emotionally. Remember it doesn't make you any less of a man, there's too many forces at work. Looking forward to a new you

Do i need to tip if there is already 20% gratuity charge on my bill at a restaurant?

I hate tipping culture, I wish we would get on the same page as the majority of the rest of the world and get rid of it.

No. It's weird that it would already be included though. Did you have a large group?

It's probably just the restaurant being sly and fooling tourists who aren't used to having to tip.

Tons of whales off of LBI this weekend, I've seen them a lot over the years but it's been absolutely bonkers the last week or so. Tons of bait out there (bunker pods) that they've been chasing up and down the coast. Dolphins all over as well. Wish I had a better camera and not just a phone.

It's amazing the insane amount of life off of the Jersey shore and it's healthier than ever. Bluefish in the surf as well as rainfish, peanut bunker, regular bunker, kingfish, spot, fluke in the surf and back bays and the stripers are showing up soon. I've seen more life out there fishing/surfing these last few years than I can remember, so awesome to see!

Hahah thanks, I know you're mostly a freshwater guy and just an overall outdoorsman/hunter so I really appreciate that. I forgot to mention clamming and blue crabs have been fantastic too! Offshore fishing has been great as well.

I really don't like a lot of things about NJ and our government as a whole, and I don't agree with some of the regs, but they actually do a really good job regarding our natural resources and fisheries for the most part.

I have mixed feelings this evening.

I have longed for a Five Guys cheese burger for five years since Iast visited US in 2017.

Damn it was just as delicious as I remembered.

However, a cheeseburger, fries and a soda cost me $25. Now thats like 2x Wendys, quite expensive. And they also asked for a tip. Is it OK not to tip in a fast food place if you need to pick up the food at the counter yourself anyway?

Five guys is my youngest son’s favorite fast food. I’m guessing the NYC location accounts for how expensive it was. Tip jars are common in today’s society. For counter service I think a dollar or two on a single order suffices.

Yeah, guess so. Is Five Guys a premium chain compared to McDonalds and Wendys? I mean i got same kind of meal at wendys for half the price on the corner of like 56th and 8 av, and this Five Guys was on 55th between 6th and 5th av, in my book should be in the sameish neighbourhood pricewise.

This is where the US and its tipping culture gets tricky because if you ask 100 people it would be close to 50/50 in terms of tipping when you pick up your own food.

I do not tip when I pick up my own food, I only tip when it's a sit down restaurant.

Maybe one year we will get on the same page as the rest of the world and have these restaurants pay their own servers appropriately.
