Ironically...I'm pretty sure its a Wood Duck....EDIT Nevermind I misread...I thought you said it DID look like it was made of wood 😆

And if it was made of Wood, how could you tell? Maybe if some part of his face was used and recognizable but if the duck was made out of his internal organs or bones you'd never be able to really know if it was a duck made of Wood absent DNA testing.

My golden retrievers say they look delicious.

One of my huskies loves chasing birds of all shapes and sizes, and he would agree with your doggos. The other is partial to squirrels and rabbits, but would probably go after a duck if the opportunity arose.

Mine chase anything they can get their paws on. They are clumsy hunters though and limited to the back yard as big as it is. There are owls that live in the trees nearby and a few times they've dropped rabbits in the backyard and the dogs have picked them up and carried around the carcass. Generally they don't get anything more impressive than a turtle or a lizard. They did corner a possum once and it played dead which led to my neighbors calling the police on me.

Their flank feathers are highly prized for tying flies...if you look up Wood Duck flank you'll see as few as 6 feathers going for as much 10 to 12 dollars.
Not surprised. I also read they were almost wiped out because of hunting but made a comeback thankfully.

Brooklyn via NJ, like the Nets
I have lived in Somerset County since 2000. Took a little getting used to coming from North Jersey but I love it here.
I lived in Warren from 1993 to 2005. I liked Maplewood quite a bit more, it had sidewalks and more charm in architecture. Warren was too new growth exurb for my tastes.

It did have a killer Indian restaurant though.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Finland has arrived in NYC. My apartment (organized by my employer) has a lot of channels. I have ESPN, ESPN2 and MSG & MSG+.

Does this mean i can watch on TV all of Devils games, home and away? Does MSG air every match?
Usually, but tomorrow night is on ESPN+ (the streaming service) and there's one other game this month that I think is on there.

I believe the rest will be on MSG at least for this month, but I know we have at least one TNT game (the one in Florida in December) and I think there's 2 games on the cable ESPN later in the year.

But I'm sure your apartment gets TNT, it's a pretty standard cable network in the states.

Alright, thanks. It all sounds so complicated to me

Anyway, seems like I've got a good set of channels. I was so happy when i opened the TV the channel was on TNT and the Boston - Caps game was on

The 10/20 game at the Islanders is on ESPN+ too.

Here's the list of games not on MSG...

I have lived twice in Germany (1 year, 6 months, two stints). A month in England, 3 months in Washington DC (with my cousin). Ive been to the military in Finland, moved around in the country a couple of times.

Despite these experiences, this first morning in NYC, going to Target to buy coffee and other breakfast stuff... just walking down the streets. Man, i feel so green now, like i would be 16 or something. Pretty sweet feeling tbh for a 31-year-old

Everything around me is so grand but all the shops, restaurants, food carts are so tiny. Its so weird. First time in USA as a true adult with a job and a credit card, i can do whatever i want. Never felt so free in my life before!

First morning in the US, so of course i bought toast, peanut butter and jelly  dirty good sandwich... In Europe they only sell organic PB, which isnt very good and always made us wonder why do you guys eat that stuff

Yesterday i got Wendys in the evening after my flight. Some old guy asked me at the pedestrians crossing what time it was. Then we walked together for a few blocks and discussed about the energy prices in Europe. This - - has - - never - - happened - - in - - Finland - - in - - the - - 31 - - years - - ive - - lived - - there! We dont do small talk in Finland. So happy to be here

The obvious stuff is eat the foods you can’t get the same in Europe. NYC pizza and Chinese food and NYC style deli food. I’d also suggest doing some investigation for who has good barbecue in NYC currently . Of course there are som landmark restaurants to look into. Enjoy.

That's kinda where I'm having a hard time choosing. I stayed at a friends in Maplewood and liked the feel of the town, but it has pretty small lot sizes overall. One of my top priorities on my search is a house on a large enough property to have a pool, so I've been looking at houses that are at least like half an acre. And many of those are in the like Warren or Basking Ridge type areas. But so many of those places don't have sidewalks so I'd be worrying about getting hit by a car while walking my dog.

Lots of great steakhouses which are expensive and lots of great ethnic foods which vary in price but usually represent good value. I’d recommend some googling for restaurants and bars as well as the best way to use public transport to get to Devils’ games since you are there.

anyone been recently and got reco's for activities? we're staying at red rock so definitely hiking

If you're into thrill ride stuff I enjoyed the rides and the jump off the stratosphere, a bit pricey but as a one time deal I really enjoyed it.

After almost 23 years with the same company I got laid off today...

I have mixed emotions.

Part of me feels defeated and sad. Another part of me is over the moon with my new life that starts soon.

I'm probably going to sell my place and move out West soon or not move anywhere and just drift for a while.

Anyway in the next month I'll probably disappear for a good long while. So if you don't see me around there is nothing wrong and it's definitely not because I don't love you all.

OMG. I'm so sorry for that. That's awful of them. I know you were looking forward to leaving soon anyway but you want to go on your own terms. I know you will land on your feet.
