Dad, when I move in can I bring my golden doodle? She’s 10 months and we’ll behaved.
Such a regal creature

I need hockey back lmao
Don’t we all.

And now, another episode of a day in the life of Patrik Elias…

Patty just finished a rousing round of tennis with his wife, who beat him in a tie break.

He takes a sip of his spritz and says,” I think they put too much Aperol. Going to ask for a splash of Camapari to even it out”.

German shepherds, huskies are dogs to me. These… little abominations, are the “shit” that’s leftover ala Danny Devito in Twins.
Huskies and Shepard’s (all black long haired Shepard I’d love to have) are by far my favorite dogs , but no way I can have one. I’m allergic to them (type of fur they have and shedding ), plus I just don’t have the time to walk and run them as much as they should be.

So ..Im limited to dogs with a certain size and type of fur. Small dogs are not my favorite to put it mildly. I love all dogs but small little shits and these breeds I’d never own personally - Pug , Shitzu , Bulldog , Boxer , StandardPoodle
Ex-sister in law had a standard poodle. When they would visit , she would bring that stupid F’ing dog along . As soon as they walked in the door , she would boss me around to cater to the stupid dog., “fetch “ me some water for Disco (dogs stupid name ) .
Totally fit the stereotype of a standard poodle owner.Obnoxious douche bag owners that think their shit doesn’t stink. I would get so allergic to that stupid thing that my eyes would swell shut ,nose poured snot , has problems breathing … yet they would bring that dog with them and stay the weekend and keep the dog inside the entire time, even knowing I almost die from the allergies
I would always whisper shit to the stupid dog. It’s owners would get legit pissed off. Like come on… it was a joke ..they acted like I hurt the dogs feelings… I’d whisper “ I hate you, I hope you run away and get eaten by a cougar” “ Look at yourself , you look like an idiot. All the other dogs laugh at you behind your back.I hope you get rabies. Have you ever seen Old Yeller ? “

Its owner / sister in law would lose her shit . “ Don’t say that ! You can upset him! “

Mine's 65. Large for the city, medium for the suburbs I'd say.
Our female golden is about 75 pounds and the male is about 85. He should probably lose a few but he's never quite run the same after his partial ACL tear. Yup, he will never play for the Cowboys again. They are stuck with Zeke instead of Beau.

My boys gently and kindly call Beau "Big Dummy". They say it so sweetly while they are petting him. He is a big dummy but he is one of the kindest sweetest dogs we've ever had. He wouldn't hurt a fly. He loves when someone pets him and plays with him which consists of taking whatever toy he has in his mouth and then putting it back in his mouth. He will stand there holding the tug of war rope while the female growls and pulls on it. That's always fun to watch. She can't overpower him and he doesn't pull at all he just holds it and stands there. Eventually she gets frustrated and barks angrily at him and he will drop the rope. We've had six Goldens over the the years. They are predictable and with three kids separated by some years in age we've almost always had a small child in the house and I've never had to worry about leaving them alone with any of the dogs.

We have a Redbone Coonhound named Jasper, a Shepard/Lab mix named Otis and a Plott Hound mix named Belle. They are 95, 90 and 65 lbs. Hounds are the best with Labs coming in second.

Really enjoying the dog pics.

I have this mean little ankle biter.

She’s almost 5 years old in either November or December. Chihuahua/terrier mix. She’s the most precious thing to me, but she barks a lot and isn’t the most friendly with strangers. Especially men. I’ve had her for 4 years this month. She seems to warm up to women more than men, but she never did warm up at all to the ex-girlfriend (for great reason, she knows a deceitful person when she sees one), but she did eventually like her son after a while. She will bark at people that come by that she’s known ever since I’ve had her. And one of my constant lines I say over and over again is “Not many people like this type of dog!” Haha.

She’s very needy too. And she’s terribly spoiled!

that's an excellent dog for someone without kids. A very good and loyal companion. I could not have had a dog like that in a house full of boys of varying ages. I cannot imagine having to call someone's parents from the ER to explain that their kid was getting stitches or worse because my dog bit them. The beauty of the variety of dogs is that they can match the right dog to the right owner. She's adorable and I'm glad you found each other.

Labs and Goldens are quite similar in my experience. Labs a bit more energetic. Intellect can vary. The smartest dogs I've seen are my in-laws German Shepherds and our first female golden. She was incredibly smart. I know herding dogs can be quite smart as well but they are "on" all the time. My oldest son's college girlfriend had a Welsh Corgi. She was a wonderful dog. Smart playful and fun. But it was like having a 100 mph Roomba in the house. It was adorable to watch our male golden play with the corgi. He would put her head in his mouth and let her go. He never bit her or hurt her or pressed hard. The Corgi loved it too. Our female golden never warmed up to the Corgi and was probably relieved when the relationship ended and the Corgi no longer visited. My kids are convinced that we will get more dogs when the youngest heads off to college but I think two is plenty.

Mine's a treeing walker coonhound. Due to her coloration we believe she may have some redbone in her.

I've owned several breeds in my life but these things are, let's say peculiar. And this is coming from a guy who had a Shiba as well as an Akita/Shepherd mix.

They take a very different kind of training and patience if you're not using them for hunting. Fortunately she's come a very long way even though COVID really f***ed with her socialization training.

Love her to bits and she's great now though, and I'm pretty sure the sentiment is reciprocal.

If you're on IG follow Jonathan's Journal. She's great and lays out the trajectory of having one pretty well.

Case in point, this is how she sleeps occasionally:

Thanks! She really is the most adorable thing!

I don't think she would seriously bite someone, but I wouldn't wanna have to find out. My buddy's kids have come over and tried to pet her and they can only pet if I hold her. She won't let them pet her if I'm not holding her. And she has ran up to them and tried to nip at their ankles (literal definition of an ankle biter, it's her!), but I don't think she's vicious.

She does have some very strange quirks. Sometimes if my phone is going off and it's in the other room, I'll run into the other room to get it and she'll start barking at the phone ringing, the same way she would if someone was at the door. She also has a bad habit of barking at people walking by and I know she does it even worse when I'm not home to get her to stop. She's very sketched out. I originally wasn't sure how I was gonna be able to go to work and leave her home all day. She would whine and howl like a coyote a lot. She definitely had to get used to it before too long.

I'm sure she was likely abused and mistreated before I adopted her when she was about 9-10 months old.
