By the way, Mango's wife posted IG stories of the family (both of them plus their dog) in New Jersey after spending the summer in Miami. The time is near.
After being in Florida for 11 years now, I don't understand why anyone would want to spend the summer here, unless maybe they live in the Southern Hemisphere, where it's the winter during our summer. Or if they lived in some place like Alaska where it's cold year round and they'll take the opportunity to get away any time of the year they could.
I would do the snowbird thing if money/work weren't a question. I LOVE it here for pretty much 8-9 months out of the year, but it's way too humid in the summer.
I look at the weather and temperatures every day up home in Jersey and there's quite a few days in the summer where the actual temperature is the same or even higher than it is here, but you can bet that it's much more comfortable (even if it's uncomfortable for the people who live there and deal with it every day) and tolerable up there than it is down here.
October-December and March-April are absolutely amazing down here. Though some of January-February have cold spells and cold fronts, especially chilly temps at night. It don't get as cold in Miami in January-February though. May-September are just disgustingly humid. I can't walk to my car without breaking a sweat this time of year, whereas up there I usually can.
I know a lot of the Russians (Kovalchuk, Ovechkin, Ponikarovsky) had summer homes in the Miami area and maybe they still do. Patrik Elias mentioned on the spittin chiclets podcast that he was on fairly recently that they have a place in Florida and I remember Marty had a place in Florida at one point (maybe he still does) and naturally with hockey season and the time of the year it happens, they can only spend time here in the summer and maybe the all star break/bye week in the winter.
But if it were up to me and I had the money, I'd be in Jersey from the middle of May through either the middle or end of September. And then I'd be here the remainder of the year.
