It's amazing how much weight I can lose by just drinking coffee and going to bathroom a half dozen times(not all #2's). And then how much I can gain back by the end of the day eating and rehydrating.

In a day my weight can swing 7-8 pounds.

That's a lot haha. I found my sweet spot with coffee. I drink Wandering Bear Vanilla Cold Brew with Super Coffee Creamer... 0 sugar. So the whole glass is probably like 30-40 calories.

Hot coffee keeps me in the bathroom as well lol

That’s a great idea, you need to share the final product with us
I will!

I've never personally tested this, but I have often heard the statement that ''Your weight can fluctuate 7 pounds per day''.

I have had times where I was outside working and it was an incredibly hot day, and I might have lost 4-5 pounds of water weight and weighed myself and was maybe 5-7 pounds less than the day before, especially if I hadn't yet eaten that day. I was pretty obviously dehydrated too, so I definitely chugged something after that and it would all come back and I probably didn't piss much until I was replenished.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that if I drank two bottles of water (16 oz each) and got on the scale that I would weigh 2 pounds more. I remember freaking out about this when I was younger and losing weight. I did not understand this concept, as much as it makes perfect sense.

Was talking about this at work, and one of the guys I work with questioned what I was saying about putting on a couple pounds just by rehydrating and then he did the math and said, "oh yeah".

3-4 beers and 3 slices of pizza before taking a leak is good for 5-6 lbs.

I don't mind cold coffee, but I won't go near hot coffee. I'm not much on any warm beverage.

My ex girlfriend drank a lot of iced and frozen coffees and I would sip from them and liked them a little bit, but not enough to drink an entire cup or bottle.

I'm guilty of being a regular consumer of energy drinks (Rockstar is my favorite, but I try not to drink calories as part of my weight maintenance) though I don't drink them every day, simply because they're pretty expensive for my budget and I try to find a 2 for $3.50/$4-$4.50 deal on whatever is on sale at that particular store. I try to go for the 0 calorie because I'm only interested in not consuming excess calories through beverage. I'm not particularly health conscious (weight conscious, yes), so I don't give a shit how bad diet/zero calories are for you. I almost always drink two at a time, but it's rare that I get them more than 3 days (so 6 in total) a week and many times it's only 2 days a week.

I had an alcoholic (as well as closeted, low key crack smoker/dope shooter/snorter and one of the dumbest people I've ever met) tell me if I keep drinking these energy drinks I'm gonna have a heart attack and blah blah blah blah.

Meanwhile, it was not much more than 2 years later that he had problems with his kidneys, ended up in the hospital for over a month and then got a blood clot and now has no feeling in one of his feet. And he's about 11.5 years younger than me?

I asked him how this happens to someone his age and he said ''I don't know, I probably drank too many energy drinks''. It wasn't because he's a f***in alcoholic, but okay then.

Honestly I think SUGAR is the enemy.

I had gastric sleeve surgery last July and went from 439 pounds to now 276. The one thing I can point to is cutting sugar out of my diet almost completely. I try to make sure anything I have has less than 5g of sugar per serving. I drink Celsius energy drinks.. no sugar and some non carbonated flavors that are really good.

Carbonation expands your stomach and allows you to fit more food. So I haven't had a carbonated beverage in over a year. Not even sparkling water.

Monster Rehab is decent. 4g of sugar, non carbonated... has a tea flavor and some fruit ones too.

If you cut out sugar you are saving yourself a lot of calories too. One 16 ounce bottle of soda/iced tea is going to have 35-50g of sugar. That's INSANE.

Definitely 4-5 pounds is normal. After having two pretty extensive weight loss cycles (gained it back 6-7 years later after becoming depressed, giving up on myself and medicating with food, happy to say I've since lost it again) in my life, I started to experiment with weighing myself at different times a lot the first time I did it. I usually tried to stick to only weighing myself once a week, if not every other week because I was freaking out too much. I would have a cheat day and get on the scale the next morning and be 7-8 pounds heavier. I had no concept of any of this stuff and couldn't figure it out because while I knew I ate a lot, I knew I didn't eat 7-8 pounds worth of food. I didn't even know about water retention at that point and that's what it really was. I learned pretty quickly.
Was talking about this at work, and one of the guys I work with questioned what I was saying about putting on a couple pounds just by rehydrating and then he did the math and said, "oh yeah".

It's been about 8 years since I did a bunch of the research, but I believe the temporary weight gain after eating something is caused by the body removing water from tissues (maybe even the kidneys?) and using it to absorb the food that you just ate. So that's why you will see a 3-4 pound increase in weight immediately after eating a hearty meal. Even after I discovered the ''Well I just drank 2 pounds of water, so I understand why I weigh 2 pounds more now, got it!'' I still didn't understand why after eating I would gain 3-5 pounds because in my mind I knew I didn't eat 3-5 pounds worth of food haha.

Water transfer from tissues to food absorption is not going to change your weight though. It's just moving it from one area of the body to another.

If you gained 3-5 pounds after eating, it's because you ate 3-5 pounds of food.

I admit that I am a soda junkie. It's my only vice. I don't drink beer or other alcohol (never, not even on occasion, not a sip. Never enjoyed drinking, won't let it pass through my lips), I don't smoke weed or anything else. I'm a soda guy. And a FOOD guy. So yeah, that's my drug I would say. Food.

I won't drink soda with calories in it though, just because I know what I need to maintain my weight and I'd much rather eat 500 calories than drink 3 sodas with 500 calories. If someone makes it a priority to maintain their weight, but still enjoy indulging in things, I can't see how they'd be more satisfied with drinking the calories instead of eating them. If I drank three coke's (what are they? Like 140-160 a can?) and then ate 1600 calories, well I still would have had close to 2100 calories and I'd probably still be hungry because my body don't feel like it consumed those 500 calories out of my 3 cans of soda. So I just drink Coke Zero (or diet Dr Pepper) instead.

I used to really have a thing for candy like sour patch kids and gummy worms and stuff like that, but I found if I eat 800 calories worth of that stuff, it just doesn't really feel like I ate anything at all out of it. So I'd rather eat a chocolate bar (or two) with those 400-800 calories as they're more filling and satisfying.

Since we've talked about coffee, my ex girlfriend used to get a large frozen caramel coffee every morning at Dunkin Donuts (32 ounces) and she would get me one on days I went to the doctor with her, so I started drinking a lot of those and they tasted good, but they had 800 calories. I could not understand how they had 800 calories, other than being 32 ounces of fluid, but I stopped drinking them after too long because I could eat a nice steak and get that number of calories and I GUARANTEE I'd feel much more FULL and satisfied!

It's been a very long time since I read all that stuff, but it's kind of why you get bloated after eating a big meal. I don't know if it expands or what, but if you eat a decent meal and look at your belly with your shirt off you'll notice you look a bit bloated.

3-5 pounds is a lot of food though. Say I ate an entire large pizza (I could if I wanted to) and say I had 2 cans of a 12 oz soda in the process (1.5 pounds from the drinks) and I go and weigh myself after that. I know I'd be 5-6 pounds heavier. Now the drinks account for 1.5 pounds of that, but does an entire pizza really weigh 3-4 pounds? It might feel like it's that heavy because of the box (which really weights nothing), but 3-4 pounds of food is A LOT of food to consume.

I go to this amazing taco truck that has these pretty big burritos and I'm not even sure if they weigh a pound, but they're probably close. I know I would weigh at least 3-4 pounds after one and with say just one drink as I'm eating it.

Unless your body is bringing in/retaining more water weight via breathing?

But otherwise your gaining exactly as much as you eat. Moving water from tissues to the belly isn't changing your weight.

I could go on for far too long comparing and discussing energy drinks but I too really try and limit them but work and stuff usually always leads me back.

Monster is my favorite but recently all my nurse friends have been trying to put me onto Celsius. It's what they all drink as a (somewhat) healthier alternative. I'm a bit of a healthy nut overall but not sure I'll be switching just due to the taste preferences.

Eating that many pounds of food is pretty just.... Ugh.... Competitive eaters can do it, but I would be sick if I ate more than probably 2 actual pounds of food.

I've not tried Celsius yet. Actually, I haven't really heard of it too much. Maybe they don't have it down by me in Florida? I used to like Full Throttle, but that's become increasingly hard to find. Monster seems to be the only one that's almost always sold in every convenience store or grocery store everywhere.

I like the zero calorie Monster drinks. Like that Ultra Zero or whatever one comes in the white can is called? I like the green one too. It tastes like sour apple. When I first got into regularly consuming energy drinks I liked Absolutely Zero, but then I didn't have one for a while and started trying to get into them again and really couldn't. I had 2 a couple weeks ago and I tried to get back into them and give them another shot, but eh just wasn't into them. And the color of my piss after drinking them is the exact color of the liquid as it's coming out of the can. It freaks me out haha. It's almost like watching myself dump a can down the toilet because of how the color is identical in the urine. It's kind of disturbing.

I never liked the regular Monster, the taste of it, because I didn't care for the syrup. There's just something I don't like about it, even though I don't drink regular/calories energy drinks anyway. If I do it's gotta be Rockstar, but I don't like their zero calorie drinks. I don't think they taste good.

I've never had a Reign energy drink either, but I always see them on the shelf and the first time I see one I immediately had to look up to see if Bill Foley or the Golden Knights had anything to do with this drink. The logo looked a little like the Golden Knights knight guy.

I’m an energy drink whore (trying to reform myself), but I started with pre-workout, then Bang, moved to Reign, and now I vacillate between Celsius/Alani/Optimum Nutrition Amino Energy, and CVS carries C4 drinks that are starburst flavors that taste out of this world lol.

You are a man of phenomenal taste, Ultra Zero and the Green Apple ones are my favorite Monsters as well. The blue Low Carb one is good too.

I think Celsius is on the upswing, my local 7-11 didn't even have it until recently.

Reign is my go to backup tho sometimes they feel a little too sweet. Never realized the Vegas thing until you mentioned it actually.

Rockstar is probably my 3rd option if I had to pick one, they're decent.

Bang I cannot do, the few times I've tried one they feel too strong and give me a minor headache or something else. I have a friend who swears his heart tries to break out of his chest after drinking a Bang.

I've drank Bang, but the only reason I've really favored them when I've gotten them is because they're all zero calorie. They have like almost twice the caffeine one can as the other brands do. I honestly don't really care for the taste of them. Like, at first they were fine, but some of them just taste like shit and the ones that I can tolerate aren't much better.

I'm gonna have to try a Reign. If it's sweet then I'll probably like it.

Red Bull is too expensive and I don't think it tastes particularly great compared to the others. I like it more than Bang and the regular original Monster, but I can't justify the price. I think a 12 ounce costs a dollar or two more than a 16 ounce of most of the other brands.

I used to like Amp, but they discontinued it a handful of years ago and now they have some other Mountain Dew energy drink. That was my go-to back in 2007. I actually rarely drank energy drinks at all in between 2008-2014, but drank a ton of Amp around 2007-2008 and first had a Red Bull around 2003-2004. I think it was 2014 when I discovered the zero calorie Monsters like the Ultra Zero and Absolutely Zero. Then I tried Full Throttle around the same time and really liked that. The Agave flavor particularly. I don't think I had a Rockstar again until about 3-4 years ago after trying it around 2007 (when I was into Amp) and thinking it was too sweet and tasted like sugar poured into a carbonated beverage. Somehow I went back to it about 3-4 years ago and gave it another try and didn't think it was overbearingly sugary anymore.

Anyone here into photography? I bought a drone and a kick ass camera and don't know what to do with the content. I've taken some really cool photos of birds.

Awesome pic! :thumbu: I posted some pics last year (or was is 2020?) of birds we've seen in our yard. We're in Sussex so there's plenty wildlife around. Here are couple. The one with the baby bluejays is a favorite. :)

That shot with the baby Blue Jays is awesome. They are such pretty birds... even if they are jerks haha. Great cardinal pic!

I have gotten Eastern Bluebirds, Orchard Orioles, and some others but am ready trying to find two birds that are around NJ only in the summer... the Scarlett Tanger and the Indigo Bunting.
