Lots of salads and low carbs and limit snacks. Give yourself something to look forward to every few months. A nice dinner at a favorite restaurant where you eat what you want and have dessert. Then back to salad. I typically have one real meal and one salad meal daily. I try to limit snacks. If you can exercise it will all be a little easier.

I do something similar. We have salads every so often, but (ironically for a vegetarian) I don't like them that much and they can be unsatisfying. So usually my solution is to cook vegetable-heavy meals, where even large portions are pretty low calorie and nutrient dense. We do takeout very infrequently, and when we do that functions as our cheat day. We also try to make sure we have few to no snacks in the house, because neither of us has very good self-control about them.

I gained five pounds from reading that last sentence.

My wife and I are doing calorie counting and food weighing together- I need to fit into my wedding suit (the size 32 pants are a tight fit) and she needs to shed some pounds for her next lung function test, since there wasn’t anything wrong with them last time like fibrosis or the like. I don’t even want to go back to the junk eating life.
I've lost 10lb's since Dec. Not that eating late night bowls of cereal is helping that.

I allow myself some low carb snacks. I love cashews for example. The ones with a bit of bbq seasoning on them are wonderful. I found a brand of ice cream that was low carb and had 330 calories for an entire pint. Parse that out for three servings and it's not too bad if you have a craving. Some sugar free chocolate is pretty good to my taste. A couple of squares after a light dinner is a nice treat. If you limit yourself too much you won't stick with healthy eating long term in my experience.

This car market is so stupid. I just agreed to trade in my 2021 with 30k miles on it for a brand new car. With the equity, I'm paying nothing out of pocket and my payment is only increasing a few bucks from the higher interest rates.

Just over a year ago I would've taken a complete bath on my car if I wanted to trade it in after owning it for just one year lol

Kinda neat that the US Senior Open is at a golf course within walking distance of my house.
For a long time my family lived up the street from Winged Foot. One of my brothers was going to try to run a car park when the US Open was played there but my parents shut that down. Another brother used to fish there in the ponds. Sometimes I had to cut through the club when the road leading up the hill towards our house was blocked and I had to take the back road and Winged Foot sat between the two. Of course I was a valet parker at Westchester Country Club for a couple of seasons. Great job for a teenager but what were those grownups thinking letting me drive all those cars? Met a number of celebrities and pro athletes.

Cool stories old man….

i contemplated hitting the range for about 80 balls/14 bucks...7 minutes away

but got drunkish and fixed a chainsaw and cut up a large birch part that fell instead.

besides........ the range is in the heat of the sun and the wood cutting is home and in the shade

its stories like this that make me smile. the back story and WHY?...

the influences, the inspiration.

but im never surprised when i hear stories of players/bands telling shit .....

and plenty of times is sounds very different....it's not supposed to though ....

Finally got to use one of the rods I built. Went out with the intention of catching some micro species like darters. But I got tired of passing so many trout spots, swapped reels, and caught the first fish on one of my homemade rods.

Nice looking brown... How do you like the rod from an action and feel perspective. Looks good.

All my trout rods had all cork grips and sliding rings. Tennessee grip is what they used to call it.. I don't think I ever had a locking grip trout rod

my brother always insists i take a frozen box of 12 of these when he drives there specifically for the patties....

these are incredible. the real deal, texture is not as coarse as gas station garbage...

just had one out of the toaster oven 14 minutes, spicy version.....dangerous as its 400 kal per. could easily have another..

sofa king good

....opting for a creemore pint instead to cool off

and cash only. check out the FAQ

The rod has a medium action and was never intended to be a trout rod. I much prefer a fast or even extra fast action for this application. But it works. Casting long distances is a bit more challenging and using certain baits is also more of a challenge.

I've never not had a trout rod with a reel seat like this. I've seen the type you are describing but just never liked the idea of it. I suppose you might get a touch more sensitivity out of that type or rod, but it would be very minimal at best imo.

I went into the garage and dug out my old go to trout spinning rod.

I got this one in 1987 it's a 1 piece Fenwick HMG,.. I have a few other small stream rods all with similar handles

This rod is super sensitive. Drifting a #B split shot and an egg I could feel everything during the drift. Drops, rocks, ledges and of course a hit. I really like this style it feels perfect in my hand. That rod was a stockie killer :)

LBI for a short 4-day vacation. :)

and the dbaggery of setting off fireworks from others begins. celebrating what?

canada's shame?

and the dog is pissed too

My older dog is jittery enough tonight because of the approaching thunderstorms. I'm expecting fireworks several nights over the next week, which means she will be even more scared, and my wife will insist that she gets to sleep in the bed with us.

thing is, this year canada day is on the friday....so no doubt there will be even more of it saturday night

call me old man yell at cloud, but i find it annoying as f***...

i get it if it's the park or the region or whatever doing the show for the public, kids love the shows......but the blasting off of shit all around here and a bunch of people who cant hold their liquor wooping it up ...ill pass.

now, before this year the by-laws gave allowance to set off for day of the holiday and both 2 days before and after, a 5 day window for personal at home shit

.... it's been changed to only the single day as of this year....july 1st

but i highly doubt

1. that any of these people know about the change (and really......they wouldnt care if they did know)

2. that any by-law officers will be out enforcing this shit on a saturday of a long weekend

ok ...old man needs a drink...... a goddamn f***ing triple

I made some very harsh posts about some unknown people in my neighborhood (I think they are a couple blocks over) on New Years of this year. How I may or may not wanted to inflict severe pain on.

Because they were blowing off fireworks almost half hourly until maybe close to 4:00 AM. They were just blowing them off constantly until about 1:00 AM. Then they stopped but would blow off a few over the next hour or so. Then I figured they fell asleep but after a half hour a few more went off consecutively. And I think they may have went 40 minutes in between at some point, but they would set off 1-3 every 20-30 minutes until around 4:00 AM.

My dog doesn’t like it. She can’t even stand thunderstorms, which we have plenty of during the summer. I’ll come home from work and find her hiding in the laundry closet during a T-storm. She hates the fireworks. She was laying next to me shaking the entire night on New Years. She won’t even go out for a walk when she hears a firecracker or a thunder boom within 30 miles. I can’t even hear thunder from 30 miles away but she certainly can. She’s a very timid chihuahua that is easily perturbed and scares easy.

Thankfully 4th of July is on a Monday night and not a Friday or Saturday. So maybe they’ll have work the next day and not be looking to set them off all night again. Or maybe they moved, since I don’t even know who It was.
