Found another So Hyang cover of a song I had absolutely no interest in previously that I can actually listen to now, despite the cheesy ass lyrics. The harmonies here are surprisingly good, but once again, So Hyang's voice stands above all. It's so damn pure and focused. Imagine how cool it would be to be at this show, sitting in a parking lot listening to some great musicians with no pomp and circumstance. What a chill vibe. Right up my alley.

Brooklyn via NJ, like the Nets
I had the best weekend yet with the old lady. Friday was the wedding of her best friend, who I barely know, but she means the world to my wife and I’d love to get to know the happy couple in the years to come. The ceremony was mercifully short, the food was great, and the edibles and open bar kept me in a good state.

Saturday was mostly a recharge day, but we did go back to a movie theater for the first time since the pandemic. We saw The Bob’s Burgers Movie, which is just a movie-length episode of the show. If you like that, it’s up your alley.

Sunday we went to Spumoni Gardens in South Brooklyn for a friend’s birthday celebration, then went to Chelsea with a friend and her niece. We went to the Museum of Illusions to end the day.

If nothing else my summer is looking a lot more active.

I went to some mountain bike trails about half an hour away. My first time there. I figure I’ll start easy and head out on a medium tier 2.5 mile trail. Well it was about 90 out and humid and I got lost where a bunch of trails intersected and I was overheated to my core which can be dangerous at my age. When I found the you are here map I was about as far away from the base as the trail system could be. I clawed my way out to a main road and roads back to the base and then sat on the ground outside my car too weak to lift up my bike for half an hour. You had much more fun.

That can be an intimidating situation. I once lost a hiking trail and by the time I realized it, it was too late. I went out around 10 am and didn't get back to my car until the sun started to set. The plan was a 2 hour hike and back home for lunch. No matter how seasoned you are, a bit of panic sets in.

If I hadn’t been overheated I would have been ok. I was a bit worried I’d have full blown heat stroke. Next time I will have to bring some ice instead of water.

It's definitely for real ..Carp fly fishing in inner cities became a hip thing to do around 2010 maybe a bit earlier.. I don't know about eating anything from the LA River but that kind of carp fishing has a lot of followers.

Growing up in the inner city I spent a lot of time carp fishing along factories and under train trestles on the Passaic River for carp and catfish.. Never ate any of it though. In the 1980's the Passaic river was listed as one of the top 10 dirtiest rivers in the US by American Rivers. Twice I saw the Passaic county sheriff's trolling for bodies along the Paterson Elmwood park boarder near the old Marcal paper factory but up river closer to Fair Lawn.

Carp are a bit underrated in the US. Widely popular among European fishers though

Have you ever heard a song a hundred times, never thinking much of it, before finally, one time you hear it and say, "Hey I like this song".

I've had it happen a bunch of times but this one is the most recent. Got me right from the intro.

it gets you right off the top cause it's a fender rhodes piano (or sounds like it)

and it is a great intro then drums...

A generally forgotten band which is a shame. They really broke through to the mainstream listener with Even In The Quietest Moments, then Breakfast In America put them on the map big time. Unfortunately, they never did match either of those. Crime is a really good listen as well as Crisis, What Crisis? They put out a couple earlier albums (yes, vinyl) but I've never had the chance to give them a listen. Crisis might be my favorite of them. :) Now you've got me listening to Sister Moonshine as I type this out. :D :D :D

f*** it, more piano, more keys, more vibes .... more

I saw him at Radio City in thr Big World tour. I only have vague memories of it this many years later but he either closed his main set or the show with I’m Thr Man. It rocked. To this day it’s one of the best moments from any concert I’ve seen.

Sounds like a cool place. I googled it to see more info beyond the Wiki...looks lita a good place to fish for pike and bass.

I also came across Holland Marsh Wineries...had no idea Canada produced wine. :)

I think it could have been played on a whatever piano and still been good.

But I do like the "jazzy", piano intro, if you will, followed by, the 70's spacey sound which then leads to a pretty heavy guitar rock sound which accompanies the initial vocals.

The chorus? That's a segment I'd probably do a little different.
