John was killed 43 years ago tonight. The world is still poorer for his loss. He was flawed and selfish at times. That said, he was mellowing a bit and had started to reconnect with his older son, although Yoko wasn't going to let anyone really connect with John. A complex guy but a real New Yorker at heart and had a lot left to give. Go listen to Revolution, Imagine, Power to the People, and even Working Class Hero and think of what he could have offered in today's world.

A friend brought me the Nixie clock I made her some time ago for her birthday as one of the tubes gave up the ghost. I replaced the tube and realized I never finished the clock I was making for myself. So I finally did. And I think it's my favorite one so far.

All in, for what I paid for everything, was about 100$. But I bought a lot of this stuff pre-covid. checking now, it would be closer to 150$.

They are real Nixie Tubes from the former Soviet Union. The oldest one in the set is from 1976. They do not run hot at all. A clock I built for my sister has been running 24/7 for 3 years with no issues. The one I fixed for my friend was the same until that tube went out. The guy I get the tubes from has had one running 24/7 for 5 years with no issues.

Are they counting time back?

No one and no thing can count back time, unfortunately.

I just spent $350 on a carry-on suitcase. I went to a Samsonite outlet and got $200 off on it to an ordinary sticker price (i.e. normally $500ish).

I am not sure if i feel like an adult or an idiot

A nice piece of luggage tho. These modern things dont weigh a thing

Just think how much bourbon, ammo, fried snack food, and oversized pick up trucks you can get in a bag like that!! There may even be room for your ten gallon hat in there.

ya i have a bunch of bowie records in my collection

why asking?

Right. We discussed Pin Ups. There is a new documentary about him called Moonage Daydream. Very well done. Worth a watch. Really gives you an idea of who Bowie was. He really was a mixture of late 1960s NY avant garde stuff like Velvet Underground combined with an amped version of Andy Warhol. Really amazing guy. I think he made one mistake. He should have continued working with Mick Robson after 1974.

I can’t tell if there’s a rodent or some other kind of pest or maybe it’s just a cat, outside making a bunch of noise. Or maybe it’s just the wind making shit creak out there.

We’re having a crazy rain and wind storm that we had all day. It’s actually been windy for several days now.

I listened for the first time to the Imagine special edition album on Spotify and there is an alternate mix of Happy Xmas. In it you can distinctly hear Yoko singing like a normal human. Not sure why they released the one where her singing sounds more accented. In some respects John did her no favors.

Interwebs connection question:

Has anyone tried the T-Mobile wireless internet network? I tried them out over a year ago and it was still too new so connectivity was spotty.

I had Xfinity for years and loved them. Moved and got stuck with Spectrum which sucks.

Good luck heading back to the office! I went fully remote about a year before Covid and my goodness, best thing I’ve ever done. I can’t see ever wanting, and thankfully for my job, needing to go back into an office.

If you sit behind the bench at an NHL game, can you see anything with players jumping on and off and coaches standing the entire game? I can’t afford those, so will never know. 😆
