I can’t believe a guy is working on his car at 3:00 AM (I hope it falls on him) down the block. I just hear him banging on something and see a cellphone flashlight down there in the driveway. I can’t tell what exactly he’s doing to it.

I can hear it (along with his BIG MOUTH wife/girlfriend talking nonstop to him) from all the way over here. On one of the rare Saturday nights/into Sunday mornings that the people up the block the other way aren’t having some party with loud music. I’m sure it’s coming tomorrow night, but hopefully their friends (I’m assuming they invite friends over) went out of town for Christmas.

It’s been pretty quiet around here recently. I’m not even sure who this dickhead working on his car and banging on something over there is. I was under the impression it was older people living over there (not that these people are young by any means), but I think these might be the same people I’ve told in the past (to myself, not to them personally) to shut the f*** up and go inside and have sex or something. They may be the children of the people that live there.

They sound like redneck trash. I’m detecting some hillbilly/Southern but north of here accent on the guy cause I can hear his big mouth too, but he isn’t close enough to really detect it closely. He’s close enough to keep me up though, between him and his girl/wife’s big mouths and him banging on something with the car.

I’ve been hearing a lot of southern/redneck accents around here and seeing a lot of confederate flags and seeing more and more redneck trash here (in my area, not exactly in my my neighborhood) and shitty their commercial country music.

I’m surprised nobody calls the cops on them. It could be confused for gun shots probably in the houses next to it and across the street. It’s loud enough over here. Because nobody expects someone to work on a car at 3:00 AM.

A guy I know where I’m from in Jersey install garage doors on houses. A lot of them are new homes just constructed that were given to him through contractors he’s gotten jobs from for years. He even installed the doors for Kevin Weekes, though he didn’t actually meet him and I’m not sure if Weekes had even bought the house yet at the time he installed the doors.

Anyway, he would always have the cops called on him for doing these jobs at night. He would do a lot of his jobs at night because he had a daytime job working in the carpenters union. So he would have to do these jobs either at night or on the weekend while he was still going to a job site every day in the union. Sometimes he wouldn’t finish until 2:00-3:00 AM.

The cops were always getting called. Sometimes just because they didn’t realize he was one of the contractors and they were suspicious of a guy over there in the early morning hours and once in a while because they would hear the noise when he’d turn on the saws.

Many of the cops knew him and would leave as soon as they found out it was only him working. But in towns where he didn’t personally know the cops? They would shut him down and tell him come back when it gets light out, because he was violating noise ordinances.

Don't forget they are not very kind persons not against you. You should not start to be protagonist from "Falling down" movie.
Even if country is bad, its not like other pop stuff is better now. So who cares what kind of popular stuff someone listening. Its always bad and annoying and tacky. Country, hip hop, pop, even freaking rock - nickelback is worser than anything. Taylor Swift is doing awful "industry" soulless product. May be Canada is the problem? Of course they are, but overall its a time we are living. Covid didn't make any better, people started to worry about safe space more, don't trust each other, they are more aggressive. Propaganda of different stuff is making more and more lines and pushing stupid stuff and hiding real problems.

But people are still the same. Even if they are not very good. Let them be. Don't touch your gun if you have one. Go watch new Miyadzyaki animation movie.

Poor guy. I loved to work at night some years ago. It is quite and calm. Shooting from people and from police isn't the thing here. Mostly you can live and walk every where at night (I lived in 5 cities) and nothing will happen. But of course exceptions can be somewhere. And drunk people are stupid in any part of the world.

We hosted Thanksgiving. We hosted Friendsgiving. We’re hosting this morning so our parents and aunts/uncles can watch our daughter open gifts. I can’t wait to NOT host for a long time lol. Merry Christmas y’all.
I don’t have a ton of family that lives near me but normally one of my brother or sisters family will come down and join my parents, in-laws and my family. Personally since having kids my wife and I have learned that hosting works better for us so we don’t have to move the kids and just let them stay home and enjoy Santa’s gifts. It started with having to decide which Grandparents house we were going to and then we decided to combine both families and just deal
With the extra cleaning for a few days.

Either way, this is my favorite time of the year due to the family gatherings and memories of old and new. Enjoy the time with your family Clam Jensen! Happy Holidays.

Same to you! The hosting is definitely easier not having to travel with all the toddler necessities, that’s for sure.

We hosted 20 people for Thanksgiving a month after moving into our new house. For that, I made a Mushroom Wellington, Manchego mashed potatoes, sweet potato goat cheese tarts, and broccoli and caramelized onion mac and cheese.

We had some friends over for a holiday gathering the other night, and I made an Italian dinner: eggplant parmigiana, risotto alla vodka, caprese salad, and garlic bread.

I was very glad to not have to host for Christmas, although I was still cooking. We went to my in-laws' house, and I made truffle mac and cheese and cheddar gratin potatoes.

I think I'm going to take it easy on the cooking for a few days.

Holy shit man, yea I’d say you put in enough familial and hosting equity for quite some time lol.

I like to cook, and tend to do all of the cooking anyway, so that part is not much of a burden. Getting the house ready and running the party are the hard parts.

And when I'm hosting I tend to cook way heavier/richer stuff than normal. Maybe it needs to be soups and salads for a week or two to recover from the holidays.

It’ll pay for an entree at least.

ya... it's just that i don't go out to eat and was alarmed by the menu

by my math....

1 appetizer....but what? all things i have made, and can make... 18 bucks for polenta fries? it better sing a f***in' aria while i eat it

2 entrees? i've made all that menu... so 2 x 40$ ...and the biggest scam of all ....tenderloin medallion on mash potatoes.... at the top entree price 46...

one of the most overrated cuts of meat 'lb per lb' ...its a cop out ...and top dollar on menu? ...they should eat if off the floor themselves to fool people like that ...

add 2 beverages....10 each

total -120
tax -15
20% tip -25

grand! total -160

i didnt even post the risotto menu section.....it's colo$$al.

...

i hate this situation

We have one person in our local resource who comes only after defeats to write how terrible the team is and how lame they play and how nothing shines for them with such a game.
I am the administrator there and today he received a message when entering into the group - "Happy New Year. We wish you to fall in love with yourself and your team, get through the teen crisis and become smarter in the new year! Ban for a month. Happy holidays!"

Happy New Year, friends!

f*** it, I can't find the Doggo pic on my computer. It must only be on my phone. That DD one has been on my computer since 2017 or 2018 lol.

Or maybe one of the current active posters who, one is named after a busted Devils forward prospect!:sarcasm:

I know you're not talking about this forum. It just reminded me of certain characters of this forum.

Happy new year to you, by the way. Where it's definitely already 2024!

Remember the Y2K stuff back in 1999? They really did put a scare in some people with that. I bought some of the fear mongering myself.

I was actually in Denver visiting my brother for the turn of the Millennium, where it's 2 hours behind Eastern time.

So I remember staying up late into the early morning of the 31st, where it was already past midnight on the 1st on the other side of the international dateline. Just to see if civilization was halted over there. And it wasn't. And I followed as just about every time zone turned midnight and there was nothing wrong.

Good times.
