I came here for drunken discussion and got 'i understand the demands of commercial fishing'.

Wtf

Just had a couple of bullet rye ol fashions and dropped my first boy off at school.

Stop Making Sense is out this weekend. I saw it in theaters the first time around. It's fantastic if you have any interest in the Talking Heads. They got together to be interviewed for the re-release. That's a big deal. They've famously been adamant about not getting along for so long. I don't foresee a reunion show but I can dream.

So does anyone identify with any of this?

Fortunately, I feel a lot better than they told me I would when I got to be this age. As long as I stay moving. When I rest for too long, I feel tired. When I’m moving, I have all the energy in the world.

I made an effort in my 30’s to get my weight down and keep it there, which I’ve mostly done, outside of falling off the wagon with it in 2020-2021, before quickly taking back control again.

I’d have to also credit being a teetotaler for just about all my life, save for a half a year period of binge drinking in my late 20’s, to me having more of my health than I thought I would.

Sleeping through the night is definitely a legit problem and a chore for me.

I still have my hair (somehow, it wasn’t in my favor generically), but I’ve been noticing how see-through it looks on the right side when I shave it and it’s growing it. It’s not even close to Mark Recchi bad, but I bet it’s from making fun of men like Recchi (and Ruff and Hynes) and their baldness. My thinning hair is a joke to guys that actually have real hair loss issues and had them in their 20s, like all the men on both sides of the family.

Acid reflux is occasionally a problem, depending on what I eat.

Rainy Saturday mornings are perfect for tying tiny flies...I always tie a line to these little ones to make sure I didn't crowd the eye of the hook...on the little ones it's so easy to cover up the eye so much that no line can pass through.

guitar talk.... the whole thing is good but

specifically 6:50-7:30 and the "zero fret". ...i'm in the process of doing that for a bass im building. the neck is an old short scale mahogany bolt on. i need to rid the zero fret and fashion a proper bone nut of antler.

Traded my Gretsch for a ‘75 Rickenbacker a few years back. Miss having a Gretsch. I’d get a White Falcon like Billy Duffy next.

All this rain sucks.

It's been raining here since Friday night. If it keeps on raining the levy is going to break...or the D&R canal same thing.

Speaking of which...

Anybody ever hike or bike the canal? It's a nice walk .. especially around Princeton or just outside.

Now ...some of the worst lyrics of all time for such a great song is without a doubt Whole lotta Love...

Pull up those lyrics and read them out loud and might think you just stumbled upon a Justin Beiber song....Sorry Zepp, it's true, those are some of the softest lyrics you guys put together. They are boy-band level lyrics

That song was written about the 1927 levee breach near New Orleams. It’s credited to Memphis Minnie. Maybe 1929? It’s on YouTube if anyone wants to give it a listen. Electrify the guitars add some pounding drums and you have rock and roll.
