Publix has boar’s head which are very good as commercial cold cuts go. At least to me. Jersey Mikes seems much better to me than subway but I’m sure both are loaded with salt .

The times I've had Jersey Mike's, I actually didn't think there was enough salt on the sandwich I got. Too much oil though.

Up here, nothing beats Nardelli's (local chain of Italian delis) for hot sandwiches. They make one of the best eggplant parm grinders I've ever had, and that's always my go to when I'm trying a new Italian place, so I've had a lot of them.

Hot subs opens up a whole new potential class of subs. Typically I go for the simple meatball parm hero if I get a hot sandwich. The chains all do an ok but not great job on those to my taste

I like that their meats aren't just cheap salt bombs and you taste the flavor of the actual deli meats. Their bacon is salty as hell - pepper relish is the secret imo. I ask for light oil, no oregano, pepper relish on all my subs. The oregano sometimes hits bitter to me so I avoid it.

I do tip my Jersey Mike's staff a buck or two at peak times because I've seen how hectic it gets in there and I feel like it's incentive to not cut corners. My local store rarely has done me wrong.

They also used to sell the bread for $1 which you could get for making sandwiches at home. Not sure if they still do that. I make artichoke and mushroom subs with provolone for the wife sometimes because she's not a big meat eater and loved the Penn Station sub like that.

Don’t tell my wife and kids but I think I prefer the US beaches over these rocky beaches on the French Riviera even if I can get drinks delivered to the beachfront in France.
I was in Spain last year at one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever been to, but f*** those rocks hurt like hell getting to the water. Not only were they pointy, they were hot as f*** lol

That beach was still awesome though. Not sure how different it is, but I'll be in the French Riviera this Summer so I'll be able to see what you mean firsthand

I didn't know that, interesting. I imagine if they do, they've raised the price with inflation.

I'm making zucchini parm sandwiches on ciabatta rolls tonight.

I used a fancy new inlay technique on this one. I'm heading to Lake Champlain this coming weekend. Hoping to get some big pike with this glide bait rod.

I'm going to be in Jersey City tomorrow and Thursday for business meetings. Driving down tonight.

Dinner tomorrow is already set, but does anyone have good suggestions for places for dinner or drinks?

Running through Rens catalog. Sometimes the internet is great. I would have never heard of him if not for Hi Ren going viral. Awesome artist.

This song shows off his voice. He can sing. And the thing I love about this, besides the fact that it's done live in one take and has very little post production as per usual with Ren, is how damn real it feels. When Chinchilla comes in, they don't harmonize perfectly. They aren't in lock step with each other. Their voices aren't always on pitch. Technically it's not perfect. But that's why it's perfect. Because it's so raw and real. Music is about evoking emotion and this song does that masterfully.

The sky and smoke are nuts. It's like the fire is the next street over and not 500 miles away in Canada.

Yeah it's brutal, I had plans for outside that I canceled today cause it's so bad. Smells absolutely awful too. Can't possibly be good to be breathing this shit in.

It's not.

WEAR A N95 (or KN95) Mask if you're outside.

Here is a map of where we stand right now as far as the Air quality :

I literally opened the door and took a breath of it and just canceled the plans for the day. My plans weren't something I couldn't do another day and it smells so bad it wouldn't be fun anyway.

Yeah it's wild here in the city. I walked the dog and breathing felt like being in a sandstorm. Poor little guy only got short walks today for his own sake.

Ya the haze was unreal the last couple days. Our office in JC looks out over the Hudson and into Manhattan. Several points during the day on Wednesday, the skyline almost disappeared. I could barely see even the Freedom Tower. Totally crazy.
