Oilers in desperate need for a capable 3C that doesn’t get caved 5v5, since Ryan is looking more like a fourth liner these days.

Who would be available at a low cap-hit from a bottom-16 team?

They'll likely have to wait until near the deadline for a rental to become available. Shouldn't be too much of a problem for them as long as they continue their strong start though.

Evan Rodrigues is having a terrific year as a center and has been an analytics darling for years. Only makes $1 million a year too.

I imagine even with his strong year, he probably wouldn't bring back more than a 3rd. Maybe a 2nd if he continues playing well.

Doesn't fit the criteria.

Sam Gagner @ $850K

Doesn't fit the criteria.

Go get Jared McCann.

Hey a player that doesn't get caved in! He'd be a great target at the deadline if the Kraken are selling.

I don't think the Oilers are in any hurry to patch their holes, they're better off waiting until the deadline.

An acceptable expiring cap dump can be discussed.

Lets see--our best D prospect for

a 29 McKegg who is a UFA after this seaon
Rooney who is also 29 and a UFA after this season
23 year old Hajek who has not shown very much
Geo is interesting but we would give you what we have for Talbot and that is it

and we toss in a third for getting bent over the boards?

What we have is better than both McKegg and Rooney

Again with the Broberg stuff? There is not one piece in that offer that moves the needle. Geo is not interesting anymore with his play. The rest are the absolute dregs of your roster. If your going to offer shit like this you should expect to get blasted. We are not moving our top prospect at D for AHL filler players. It's downright comical that the Oil even adds a 3rd to Broberg.

I bet the Wings would be willing to give up Pius Suter or Vlad Namestnikov. Both would be good in a 3c role on a good team. This would likely be closer to the deadline, assuming they're out of the picture by then.

Gagner is very available but doubt he is of any interest to any team.

Suter would be a big loss given how thin we are at C, but he'd be a great option for any team looking to shore up their 3C spot for a couple of playoff runs. Namestnikov is having a career year thus far so who knows how long he sustains that, but of course he's definitely available. Gagner is like the perfect 13th forward but not much more beyond that, great dude and great teammate.

Yeah it would be dependent on how well Veleno is developing and how good/bad the team is doing. I'm a big Suter fan and he's actually been picking it up lately. But if the price is right and Yzerman doesn't think he's part of the future long term, then why not?

Namestnikov is a good energy guy, but not sure what his future would be on the team, though he could be a good 4th line/special teams guy for a while. At the same time, with his contract up, him having a good year and increasing his value, he could be the perfect trade piece for a team looking for a 3c/w.
